how much is it going to cost me to get my FC egi track worthy?

my friends dropping a prelude engine in his civic and wants to go to a track, thinking of joining him, only if getting the car up to standard isn\'t going to cost an arm and a leg.

:3gears-rh

edit: forgot to mention, its pretty much stock bar the exhaust and a new intake

cheers

If you want to do it with improvements then like what stu said it should cost you  almost nothing.

If you where after an improvement, strip the inside out completely. Stick a Roll cage in the car and a single bucket and enjoy. The engine is fab when its on song in the egi. Its lots of fun in the FB :D

we need pics of the intake

and the brakes - they are very very good to be honest

if they are in proper working order then they will be fine

get some new pads and fluid all round and work from there

the brakes have been rebuilt at the front, and there are calipers on the back, all of the disks are vented, don\'t think they were stock?

fluid is on my list of things to do, pads are Fd pads, think they are new, will give them a check :D

Get a fire extinguisher fitted. Small hand held will do. IF something happens you are not always next to a marshalls post and if you can suppress it till they get there then you dont need to put a packet of marshmellows in the glove compartment

grinder

yeah the egi and tii has vented disc all round ( i think !! )

As other people have said, do the following:-

Service the brakes, ensuring all pistons are moving freely.
Replace the brake fluid if it\'s more than a year old.
Remove any loose items that are in the interior.
Full tank of fuel.
Top up with oil.

If you fancy spending some money then I\'d go for a set of uprated ARB and new bushes :)

Or a road legal set of semi slicks all round. As long as its dry out!

like these? http://www.racingbeat.com/FRmazda2.htm

are the strut bars that go across the engine bay the same thing?

Racing beat call them sway bars, but yes, those are the ones :)

The strut braces are meant to stop differential twisting moments caused by the flexing of the suspension strut towers, depending on how you drive you may or may not feel any benefit to having one.  But they are relatively cheap and its a shiny thing for the engine bay :)
