Yesterday something odd happened. If I held the clutch too long e.g. at a junction the clutch pedal was getting stuck down, then if I tried to put it in gear I couldn\'t get in to one without manuallly pulling the clutch pedal up and re-engaging it.

How long do clutches last? I think this one has about 25,000 miles on it...

no probably not.

its your slave or master cylinder, could be both actually or it could just be the pipe between them thats split

Excellent. That\'s what I wanted to hear! It doesn\'t do it all the time, just when I hold the clutch in for a long time, however I guess it will get progressively worse.

Yeh any one of those.  If you pump the pedal it will probably work OK  You\'ve got air in the system caused by a leak somewhere or knacked cylinder seals / bores.

that happened to mine a couple of years ago, not sure how it righted itself but it buggered off on its own accord for me

all of a sudden it will stop working altogether at the most worst possible time and then people will pass you and swear at you for owning a fnacy car and breaking down causing traffic LOL

Im sure I remember this probem on my mates little MX5\'s a few years back must be a mazda thang!

adib

happened a few times on mine after madza put a new clutch in but sorted its self out and been ok for years now

if it is the slave/master cylinder can it be easyily replaced? where would one get one! and of course how much would it be!

gonzoninja

Found out that there is a split in the rubber hose from the clutch just by the boost sensor :-(

Guildford found this out too as I brought traffic to a standstill on the A281 while having my car recovered

get a braided stainless one, not too tricky to replace & fix - dang sight cheaper easier than a new clutch! had to do this myself a month or so back.

Mines done this tonight, can anyone show me a pic of the pipe so i know where to look please? Also if it is the cylinders how tricky is it to replace and it is costly?
:Laugh LOL
