..what a terrible night!!

Having spent all day washing and waxing my new rx7 (4 weeks ownership), I decided to go out and give it a blast... very good fun.

The problem??the problem lies that i left the car for 30minutes while I fed my stomach...came back..unlocked the car..pulled the door handle...and snap!!!The car doors were frozen shut...street cred right out the window as i climbed in through the boot!!!

I\'ve no idea what has happen..except that i have a floppy door handle..any suggestions??

I\'ll have a proper look tomorrow, but i reckon it\'s snapped off from somewhere...if anyway knows where i might get a replacement door handle/mechanism then please let me know..it\'s a FD3, 1994....drivers side...

..one very sad owner...

The handle has probably come apart from the moving mechanism inside.  Its easy enough to take off and have a look, the downside on mine was that it seemed terminal so I just got new handles.

You probably could of tried the passenger door and then reached across and opened it.

I somehow used it as an excuse to justify getting FEED ones, which look much nicer than I expected actullay.

Clive, if you are reading you can have the handle back now - thanks :)

hey marc,

sorry to hear that, my passanger handle is very diffi ult to open as if locked, although it needs to be pulled hard, happened after the locks froze and i had to climb through the boot, happened at 2pm on suchihall st though  (cant spell sorry)

maybe an idea or no use at all:D

thought your engine had gone from the thread name, so not too bad a problem then.

Yeah I know - feel free to take the piss for me being a hypocrite.  They do look nice though, I just didnt fancy standard ones as I had to buy a new handle.

l3ggy

..I am going to have a look today and see whats what....liking the sound of these \'FEED\' door handles....anyone know where I can get them from and what kidda price??

..post website links and i\'ll have a look...

..cheers ric for the vote of confidence...i suppose the handle is very minor compared with a rebuild :-(, I was sooo upset that I had broken her!

You can get them from a guy called Adam. Have a look in the parts for sale vendors section. You will get his web address from there. I think they cost about £250 the pair. Only thing might be the delivery time. If you decide you can\'t wait to get a new handle from FEED (like me. Getting in the boot is not fun!!) then you can get them from Mazda (£210 the pair) I have the part numbers somewhere.

Steve

..cheers Steve.

If you find the part no. from Mazda could you pass it on please??....

..great help guys, cheers..if anyone knows where I could get a replacement mechanism from then could they post suggestions, or email me direct..

cheers..

If you take it apart you might be able to bodge it.  I tried superglue for mine, but it didnt work that well.

Chance are the mechanism is fine, but the inside of your little plastic handle has a groove worn into it from friction with the mettle mechanism.  As such instead of the handle pulling the mechanism, it just slides to the side of it down the groove.

Lee

Edit:
Its very crude, but if you just take the handle off then you will be able to open the door by just pulling the exposed metal cable.

l3ggy

cheers..

...had thought of superglueing it back together...the palstic hanlde has snappy from the mechanism at one side...thinking i just need a new handle....???looking for some advice from some of the specialist..ie rotary, jimmy\'s..anyone out there??

I\'ve noticed a post form \'RX heaven@...has anyone used them yet to import parts into the UK??I\'ve emailed a coulpe of times and they\'ve been speedy in their replies...thinking i\'ll order a new handle from them....

Marc

check the spelling out...I\'m having a very bad day!!!!!!

richrx

oooops! console  yourself in the fact that the door handles are quite easy to break.  David McIntyre broke his driver\'s door one recently so you could post on FDUK mailing list and ask him (if he doesn\'t reply on here) for the details.

Geoff at Re:Worx has got some of  the carbon-look "Feed" ones in stock - I had a nose at them when I dropped my car down there on Friday. They look quite nice but the "Feed" logo printed on them spoils it a bit IMO. Give him a ring on 02392 831213 for a price

All the best mate.
ric (rexy has gone now all I have left is NFSU2 :( )

J4P RX

Heh, I thought the FEED logo was the best bit!  As with everything, I guess its down to individual opinion.

monkeyboy

I hand a problem with my driver handle a small bit of plastic broke, i called mazda anf the handles price i got quoted was about £115 plus VAT.

I had to open my drivers door from inside, not very good

I just got some carbon look FEED handles from ADAM, they look really nice, they took minutes to fit. Give him a PM

I have a passenger handle for sale if anyone is interesed????
