For the first year I owned my FD I ran a HKS down pipe Tiger straight through mid pipe and stock Mazda silencer, the noise was just loud enough properly on the throttle to hear but  quiet enough to please neighbors

Really nice sound

My FD engine is stock (pfc, coilovers, wheels and exhaust are the only mods) mid-pipe is unsilenced and I have what I think is a Kakimoto single exit back box. it is far far too loud.

At the Reading Jap Meet everyone was taking the **** out of me and calling me a wuss for whining about how loud it was, until i started it up.

Driving to Bristol (80 odd miles) is painful and really annoying.

On the plus side if I put my foot down under bridges or in tunnels it sounds brilliant like a cross between a full own race car and a super bike.

However I will be changing the whole exhaust system once I decide what I want to go for.

go for a silenced midpipe still quite loud and sounds good but not as loud as unsilenced, it would get on your nerves afer a while and also pee of the neighbours

My FD is fairly standard, (no porting) i have an Efini Y, cold air intake filter, Apexi pfc, and a large bore un-silenced mid pipe with a Dolphin Cat-back, i also have a large bore DP to fit before mapping, but as it is it is quieter than it was with standard cat and aftermarket cat back i had before, so quiet in fact i might re-fit the cat back i already had back on! the reason it\'s so quiet is all down to the (newly packed) Dolhin tail, i think, so i don\'t upset any nieghbours.

Mine is a totally standard exhaust system throughout and i can honestly say its the quietest car i have owned. On boost at 7krpm its still sooo quiet i have grown quite fond of it as when setting it away against other cars it makes no fuss or noise and just takes off.

Wont be like that for long though got a full nur spec waiting for the spring

If your looking to increase the performance whilst maintaining sensible noise i could sugget either the Tanabe Touring Medalion exhuast system or an RE Amemiya Dolphin. If you ran either of these with a silenced mid pipe you\'d get good gains.

Personally i\'d fit both of these with an unslienced mid pipe and they wouldn\'t be too bad at all.

If it helps a mate of mine had a Trust 3" DP, Uprated cat and a RB cat back (slightly louder then stock). He managed to clog his cat up so as a temp measure we removed the cat from the case (so it was effectively decated) and it did make it slightly louder but it was very acceptable.

I would recommend the rb twin outlet cat back if you want to keep the noise level down. Just be carefull you don\'t star seeing boost issues if you decatr with no suporting mods.

I assume that getting a remap is all the support it needs ye?
