Hi,
I am new on the forum. Just one qustion.
I have no idea whats going on. Sometimes it happens 3 times a 100km and sometimes everything is well for 500km or more.
When I ride ( does not matter what speed, weather.temp etc. ) the engine stops. I have to stop the car, switch off egnition and wait at least 30s than turn on and it goes well.
It sounds like no spark because I checked/replaced fuel filter, fuel pump.
It still has a point ignition system but seems to be in good condition.
Any suggestions ?  Pls.!

Carl

It could be the fuel jets in the carburetor freezing up with the speed of the car and colder weather.
To see if that is the case get the air clener off as quick as possible when it happens, you might just see the ice.
After around 30 seconds the ice melts, that is why the car then is ok.
There should be a lever on the aircleaner housing that you move for winter setting, this then takes warmer air from near the hot exhaust to prevent this.
Regards
Carl

Yep, my 1st check would be LT wiring. Condensers were routinely changed by drivers as suspect at one time in the 60\'s/70\'s, but I used to find they were always OK.

Usually it\'s the LT wiring in the area of the distributor, but having thought about this, it could be in any part of the ignition wiring, including the ignition switch itself?

Condenser is ok\'. New rotor and distributor cap and new wires and spark plugs.
The problem is that it works ok\' for most of the time . Specially when you want to investigate ....it is working. When you go for a sunday ride it happens !
I have it for last 7000km and no worst or better.
Maybe coils ? is it possible that they work and sometimes not or they should work or not work at all when finished. ?

Well I suppose it\'s possible, I\'ve never ever had a coil failure on any car in 40 odd years.
Worth getting some secondhand ones to try if you can.
You\'ve obviously looked at the advance mechanism electrical bits in the distributor? Does it have a copper braided wire. It could be making a bad contact/earth contact when it shouldn\'t, or it could be broken somewhere.

You can still buy brand new coils over the counter too. Blue print still stock them.
