Automatic RX-8?

Does anyone know if any kind of automatic option is on the horizon? I\'ve seen a post from an automatic 190 in Oz. And I\'ve seen it mentioned on a US web site. But nothing in the UK as yet. The main agent here (Cheltenham) has no news.
 Apologies if this has been discussed in some corner I haven\'t discovered yet (I\'ve just come on board).

Hi Rocker and Welcome to MRC,

Sorry to be the bearer of but l don\'t believe they will bring the auto into Europe  according to what Mazda has told me all along, this is because the European car is different to the RX-8\'s supplied to the rest of the world and even the engine is totally different in the auto with a 4 port engine instead of a 6 port.

You don\'t happen to know of a useful web site do you? I\'ve been through the Japanese importers all this morning and can\'t find RX8. Maybe it\'s badged differently there?
Also just FYI, I checked out the Aussie web sites and the 190 auto, assuming $2.00 to the £, is close on £30,000!

by the looks of it a GT spec one is £22.5K on the road so an auto should be cheaper ?
