Ok, seen other cars doing it and now I gotta get mine doing it. Flame throwing out the tail pipe. How cool is that.

Right, so far Lee n Rich have told me to junk the cat. Didn\'t know I had one. I guess not a job for a complete layman like me who can barely find where the oil goes. So I guess I\'ll take it somewhere for that one. I\'m thinking RX Motors near me. Is it a lot of money?

Also hearing things about ECU? I guess that\'s something to do with the engine management. Are we talking about something the RX has already and it needs reprogramming or is it a fresh box of tricks? This goes hand in hand with mapping. I\'ve no idea what that is but sounds pretty specialised. Who would do that then?

Rich says "Get a Power FC and run it on the base map sans cat". Went RIGHT over my head that one! Power FC? Base map sans cat?

God, I sound dumb. Wanna learn how to ride a motorbike? I\'m your man. RX7\'s? Learning, learning, learning and learning some more.

Anyone offer any sage words of wisdom?

Would it be best for a dufus to stay catted and fire-free?

Yours in utter, embarrassing ignorance.

you have to make the engine run rich, and ditch the cat for a straight through pipe. then when the unburnt fuel gets hot it ignites in the exhaust giving you the flames you desire.

& the apexi power FC & mapping relates to getting a new ECU (the apexi power FC bit) & getting Pip (well regarded in the tuning of power FC\'s) to map it so it runs enough fuel.
Otherwise removing the cat may mean yer engines doesn\'t fuel itself properly with potewntially disaterous consequeces!
yer probably looking at spending near to a 4 figured sum for all those goodies but it is a good way to spend it IMO :D
Si (saving! ;) lol)

Cheers guys. I wait until I\'ve got me new boots on first before I treat myself to a flame thrower! :D

Martin

or alternatively you can get yourself a flamer kit... much cheaper!

scooby_si

they will still only work with a decat as far as i no so still ECU time in such an instance

Flamer kits are gay though :p

Ridicule for anyone that gets one - especially on an FD which spits flames all the time.  Almost as bad as neons!

Lee totally agree :)

Flamer Kits are gei
Flames coming out the back of an FD when lifting off throttle at high revs are very cool

even with the flame kit you still net to de-cat.     i have to admit.. yes i did enquire about one for my last car.   then they said how much etc and thougt na.
if i had 8 hour to cut down a tree. i`d spend 6 sharpening the axe

davefrith

oh the shame :)

its like about £110 for a spark plug and solenoid !!
