Crackdown

I had a look HERE (clicky) and I\'m confused as to what year mine is. Going by the first post mine is a 94 (FD3S 3029xx) but when I look at the follow up post I see 3033xx as a 95? Can someone help me figure it out please? :Hammer

It all gets a little confusing, if it helps at all i have a late 93 FD (L reg) and my vin no is fd35-2000**

So going of my car as an example i\'d say the First post is correct, but that said i\'m no authority on the subject, it may go in the same way the new reg\'s used to work (the new year doesn\'t start in Jan so it gets confusing)

I\'m calling Mazda on Monday to see if they can shed some light on the matter (closed at weekends). Reasoning behind all this is that my baby failed an MOT on emissions but would have apparently passed if it was a pre-August 95 import as I was under the impression it is (VOSA have it down as December 95 for some reason).

Rotechniks have something like 1/8/94 on the paperwork I have which ties in with what my initial thoughts were. It has a standard exhaust and cat, is there any other way to bring emissions down such as buying a PFC and adjusting the fuelling on the controller?

Oh forgot to add on last years MOT printout the car year just said 1995 - it now says December 31st 1995 - why has it changed? Is it VOSA or the test centre itself? I won\'t be taking it back to there again (other than to get my pass) as they also failed me for a sticker (smaller than a sunstrip) on the windscreen!

Check the label on the seatbelt that will tell you the year of manufacture.

RedRummy

also check the lable on the panle beside the door lock... open the drivers door to see it.

Have a look at this link as it is the correct way to tell your cars age as regards VOSA as a seat belt can come out of a parts bin years apart.

I got this from Mazda a long while ago and If need be print off this link and take it with you to the test center.

Hope this helps

Just check your registration certificate, it says there Declared Manufacture date . Thats what every one goes off.

Its as simple as looking at what prefix the car has been given by the DVLA. I believe when you register a car in the UK its one of the things that comes of the Japanese reg Doc\'s.

Instead of talking to Mazda you may be best of talking to the DVLA and put your case to them that its details are incorrect, not to be funny by my local Mazda dealer are Useless when it comes down to anything thats not on the parts list in front of them.

Well from watching MOT testers at work allot of the time they Guess the actual year it was made (i.e. if it was M reg could be 95 etc), this is often because they simply don\'t know when the car was built because its not too often people leave there Reg Doc\'s in the car when its MOT\'d.

Pain in the bum this... but like said above, the guys in my MOT station just ask me what year the car is & I just tell them 92 93?? granted it doesn\'t make any diff regarding a cat test but they don\'t seem to botherd in getting the correct date!! sounds like you have a very picky tester there as normaly they would just have a word in your ear about the sun strip!! but the basic translation from the law book is: if it\'s in the wiper sweep then it\'s ilegal & a fail!!

Interesting because it\'s not actually in the wiper sweep (are you sure that\'s the law?), and I\'ve not got much further on all this as they are being difficult. Might just take it elsewhere at this rate, thanks for the help all.
