Cost of Ownership

The previous discussions on fuel consumption got me thinking .....

I compared the cost of ownership of a 230 RX-8 with a Ford Mondeo 1.8 (128) by looking at consumption, insurance, maintenance, cost of borrowing the money and depreciation.

Even though the Mondeo costs £4500 less and has 10 mpg better urban consumption (based on the dubious official figures!) it actually costs almost the same to run (59p a mile compared with 60p) !! The extra cost of fuel for the RX-8 is more than outweighed by the depreciation of the Mondeo !

I think I know which car I prefer - 1p extra per mile for all that extra fun  :wiggle

I\'ve just ordered my RX-8 and am browsing the accessories .... Does anyone have any views on whether the deflectors, air dam skirts and sport exhaust make any difference to the fuel consumption (good or bad ?)
