MOT Exhaust Emissions

Hi

Yesterday my 1994 Rx7 failed it\'s MOT test on the exhaust emissions.

I have been told than as a japanese import of pre 1995 the MOT Station should work to the less rigourous requirements for emissions (2 gas)than those of a UK car of the same age. The MOT station said that I needed a certificate from the manufacturer to confirm this . I telephoned the Ministry of Transport office and they said the same

Has anyone else had similar problems?

Any advice would be useful
