HI all, Some may remember I was sticking This

into

Its in the car (Dont start........ ) but I now need a Slave cylinder. Is the RX7 FD cylinder ok to use ( Yes I know the FD is a pull type, I was thinking of just turning it around......)

Pete

Carl

On my first gen with the RX8 box I made a plate that bolts to the holes for the RX8 slave on the box,and then used a 1st gen RX7 slave with the pin made from a bolt that I ground to the right length through trial and error.
The 1st gen slave then fits with 2 new bolts on the plate.
Works a treat.

My other option was to use one of the bolt holes for the Gen1 slave and drill and tap a new hole for the other side. Ill go out now and check it out but using one hole and the plate sounds like a plan.

Ill tell you all how it looks soon!

Actually that is exactly what I did,yes and it works well.

Done! Thanks Carl.

Next its Gearbox mount using the 2 bottom bolts , A U shaped 6mm steel piece, 2 Arm ends off a RX2 , 2 rx7 Urethane rear arm bushes and 2 Trailer spring shackle U\'s. And some steel.........

I could use the Vibration mount position under the Tailshaft but I think the box would crack! If anyone knows differently please tell me and it will save me alot of work!

Next its the tailshaft. I have a S4 turbo uni and was going to cut the dust shield to be about 1 inch long, File hack , cut and otherwise remove the Damper mount  mount so it (The dust shield ) fits closer.

How big is the dust shied that gets run or does everyone dipense with it due to the outer dust seal on the Yoke oilseal?

I just went bla bla bla didnt I..............

To let the cat out of the bag, I run a RX2 Rear tailshaft ( Smaller to allow more suspension travel ) And a Celica / Supra centrebearing and Primary tailshaft .

The Toyota centrebearing actually survives a rally...... and the car has a W55 Celica Turbo Box ( Dont ask me where we got it, I "Borrowed it" from my Brother\'s old RX2...), which has the same ratios as a Supra W57 Its just got more alloy....

So Im grafting a Rx7 75mm tailshaft to a 60mm Primary shaft that then uses an adaptor to put it all through a 2" RX2 tailshaft....

My best mate is a toolmaker fortunately!

Update, The crossmember and mount are made and in, The Primary RX7S4-celica tailshaft has been created and The "Carl" plate has been made.

Strangely enough, The RX8 gearstick has the same ball sizes as the RX7 one, but it is 8mm longer between Pivot ball and Bottom. ( Cost me a Bottle of Jack D to pull one out.....:Thumbs-up  thanks Mazdabits!)

As I need a Slightly ( as in 4X longer!) gearstick, Im going to modify a RX2 Pivot housing to sit on the RX8 unit, with a new shaft From a Celica stick, Using a mazda ball drilled out and welded to the shaft .

Or something like that! just a Adaptor plate for the RX7 starter ( 8mm different pinion distance between the \'Boxes ) to go!

Ill tell you how it goes on Saturday

Kaptainbalistik

Rx7 S% starter and a 8mm alloy adaptor "Shim", and one new hole in the Gearbox :Thumbs-up It cranks..

Next ,The gearstick.....

Mod questio, can you combine all 3 of the RX2-8 thread I have????

Kaptainbalistik

OK, we now have gears (Sort of...)

So a Brass lower bush, 2 S1 Rx stick bushes, A RX2 twin dissy gearstick, a New top plate and I just need to make a 6mm spacer plate as the new stick is too far into the Shifter pivot!

But it is 30cm long and a nice short throw!

So we find out on Wed if it all works!

Sooooo, I finished at 12am last night and the Battery will be flat so I havent road tested it, But...................

Box Fitting

Crossmember comes out Early friday morning for a Good paint, So you may laugh at that one later.... Tailshaft was £150 for the Series 4- Celica Primary propshaft and new Centre bearing.

And One hellava short throw gearstick!

Just need a Reverse lockout!

The car is getting repainted inside and out so Excuse the years of neglect! ( Its been living in an Exhaust shop!) Poor car needs a good thrashing!

Kaptainbalistik

there has been way too much of this

Soooooo, After clearing out the junk in the car, Reassembling and charging we tried to start it...

To be greeted by a Screaming starter motor ( Ie Its Stuffed!) and only pulling 100rpm.

That and a Shagged battery!.

So a Little oil down the guts and...

Back it out and off we go!

I cannot belive what the car goes like now, The car is fitted with a IPRA spec 12A and it is astonishing what It has done! Ok I can only get 110kph out of 3rd so there is an extra gearchange in there now.

But :3gears-rh  It aint the same car!

And what a lot of dirty carbon fibre looks like......If you ever wondered!

Sooo is a Series 5/6 auto starter motor bigger than the normal one? I think I need one!:King

Brett

Thats some amazing work you\'ve done there :god
Brap Brap Brap Brap

Kaptainbalistik

The Khanacross got rained out! ( I thought I had left England.......:rollin  ). But I did get some sighting runs!

Anyway... The RX8 box is just plain nuts in the RX2 . The ratios close up as you go up the box . But 3rd is only good for 110 kph. 4th will do 140 , So its busy But ITS FUN!

Seems to handle the power OK, But I think the Oil volume in the Box will nesesitate a Oilcooler. Or run some thicker oil

I will probably stick one in the FC over Christmas if this VR4 doesnt blow the Budget out! :cool
