Hi Guys\',
I am struggling to decide whether to go for 18" rims or 19" rims on my burnout kitted RX7.. I have seen a couple of standard cars with 19 and I am almost starting to think they look too big. Most FD\'s I see seem to have 17\'s or 18\'s.. What do you all reckon? shall I go for the big ones?! If any of you have pictures of car\'s with 19" rims please post them.. I have litterally only seen a couple..

Thank you
Lee

I think 19s look to big...18s look spot on, but not so sure about the handling.
I looked at a burnout rx, lowered, with 18s multispokes....looked awesome...from a distance :)

okay?! What was up with it close up?!

My thoughts were I think the 19s really are for show.. 18\'s will give better handling I think although I am not sure why? I presume to do with a bit more rubber to be forgiving? 18" rubber is cheaper! more rim less rub could look better. Maybe a lot depends on rim style? deep dish is the only way for me!

Any other thoughts?

It wasnt a good spray job, and general finishing, edges etc

I read a thread on here about wheel sizes, it generally with 16s and 17s there plenty of tyre wall, for give round corners, but 18s/19s you have significantly less tyre wall.
Saying that, my friend has 18s on his rx, reckons he didnt notice much difference.
Now this looks good....maybe a little big?

Mate the car looks lovey.. But don\'t get me wrong.. This was the one I saw that started me wondering if the 19\'s were too big..! It\'s definately on the verge? What does it handle like or do you use it mainly for show\'s? Like I said earlier.. 19\'s on a show car are great! the bigger the better! With mine I want something that handles and looks good and doesn\'t rub my arches! So I am a little hesitant o the 19\'s. Do you get any arch rub? inner arches I mean? the washer bottle I noticed is in a silly position for that! What offset are you running and tyre size?
I also have a black car.. I was going to respray it candy red but for now it\'s going to get a fresh coat of black and a heavy dose of clear lacquer! As well as size I am torn between chrome rims and hpyer silver with a polished lip?! Oh the choices!! Here is my selection I am picking from at the moment..

Rim1

Rim2

Rim3

Rim4

Rim5

Votes please.. The black rims I am trying to find in chrome or silver! I had got down to two rims yesterday! Now I just can\'t choose.. any other suggestions I am pretty open!

RX handles fine on the road with them on and there is no rub on the arches :Laugh

I had a rx with 17\'s and 18\'s and now the 19\'s and on the road they are no different, although i dont do track days or drag strips so cant comment on that side of things :King

Larger rims are ok if they are light enough, if you want handling go for 18\'s from a lightweight stable...volk racing , ssr, etc etc

General consensus is 17\'s best for performance, 18\'s best compromise, 19\'s best look. Any bigger looks stupid.

I moved from heavy 18\'s to light 19\'s and didn\'t notice a difference. If you have adjustable suspension, you can alter it to cope with the difference in ride quality. Personally, 19\'s every time, but I think it makes a big difference if you go all silver/alloy, or a polished rim with different coloured centre. All alloy makes it look somehow a bit weighty/bulky, but mix it up with a gunmetal/black/gold/whatever centre and it balances out somewhat.

has 18\'s on it before and now it has 19\'s prefer the look of the 19\'s.

Pic is of the equip 19\'s

Thank you for the feedback so far chaps.. A real mix of opinions! Love the look of the equip rims.. How much!!?

does seem like.. Keep the votes coming in and I will see what if I can find anything else to add!!

regarding colour.. only thing with mixing is I don\'t think there is much option on a black car.. personally I would never have a black rim. gunmetal looks a little dull! I used to like gold/bronze but don\'t think it really goes with black.. a bit too sickly.. so I am left with Hyper black, Hyper silver or all polished/chrome.

I have 19s lowered on tein springs and its almost undrivable as the wheels are rubbing like made on the inner arch lining at the front, will have to change to a standard spring i think. I\'m running an 8" rim offset ET35 with 235/35/19 tyres
