was reading the very informative guide on sterio installation, but the guy said he used 5x7s in the rear. I cant find any 5x7 coaxial speakers, I need to replace 1 as its blowing and was wonderng if someone could tell me the size of the standard rear speakers. Im not bothered modifiying mounts to fit big speakers, but want a decent speaker thats a straight fit loud enough to drown out exhaust noise on long journeys.

Thanks :WaveBye

Adam

If i remember right they are 6x8\'s mate.

Nearly, they\'re 5x7\'s... There\'s a good writeup on here about how to change the speakers somewhere.

I\'ve got it to hand but since i have been away they have changed the site and I don\'t seem to be able to up load it.... It mentions 5x7\'s but says your best fitting 6x8\'s cause there are more choices.

so if anyone needs it PM me your email and i\'ll forward it on.... thats if you can still PM.....lol  :)

thats great, thanks for the info... I dont imagine they will be to hard to change, but I just dont want to have to redrill holes in mounts etc for something im not overly bothered with, just want a nice sound.

Will 6x8s be a direct fit?

RemarkLima

I managed to get some 5x7\'s OK, and were a direct fit but then I\'m a lightweight and didn\'t want to risk it ;)

Originals are defo 5x7s, and any other 5x7s should be a straight fit. Not sure bout the 6x8s being a straight fit into the existing mounts, but they will fit in the existing hole. Adam do you have that article. can you cut and paste it on here?
There are plenty of decent quality 5x7s available on the net. only question is what type 2, or 3ways or components. you may also want to replace the speaker wire as all factory wire arnt worth 2p.

6 X 8  are definitly 100% a straight fit into the metal mounting brackets. The original speakers are glued and screwed onto this bracket so you will have to pry them apart. That link i posted is all you need
