:D

I\'ve been grinning like an idiot ever since I finally saw my car, parked at Motor Mall, amidst a cornucopia of Japanese harware. It looked much better than any picture I\'d seen (although I will take some pictures in a couple of days, in case anyone\'s interested :) ) \'Twas sourced through Newera, who did an excellent job, and have been a pleasure to deal with.

Ok, that\'s enough name dropping for now, on with the questions :)

Obviously the car is very different to drive than anything I\'ve owned before, and after just an hours driving I\'m still getting used to its ways, but...

It felt kinda... fidgety, sometimes. I suspect this was a combination of wet weather, bumpy roads, jap compound tyres, and me not being used to a car with power steering, or at least not responsive power steering, but just for reassurance, is that fairly normal? On the better quality road surfaces it usually  felt fine, but I only have standard suspension, and my tyres aren\'t particularly low profile, but any bumps in the road just seemed to throw it quite badly. I wasn\'t driving fast either, I had a very nervous passenger :) Could that be anything other than me needing more experience? (just call me Mr. Paranoid :) )

Oh, and it seemed to pull a little to the side... well actually quite a lot... when changing gears at high RPM (Ok, I found a couple of stretches of straight, open road, and the desire to put my foot down overrode any concerns about my passenger :) ) Again, that\'s probably me just being a spaz and forgetting that I have sensitive power steering now, and sorta jerking the wheel as I went to shift, but, uh, just in case, could it be anything else? (again, Mr. paranoia :D )

That\'s about it, nothing exactly major. Just happy to finally have my car. :D

It\'s normal mate :)

You\'ll get used to it.

British roads can be a little bumpy for the fairly hard suspension and direct steering.

Take it on a track and it\'ll all make sense why it behaves as it does!

Nice.  Glad to see you finally have one.  Bring it along on Tuesday to the pub meet and ill take it out and tell you if it seems fine :p   Im sure itll be fine once your used to it.  They do feel bumps and bad roads a fair amount.

I\'ve had 2 rx\'s before and they are not the best handling cars in the world, you really do have to concentrate while driving mate as they do pull side to side on non-perfect roads.

After a while you wont be able to tell and it\'ll feel natural dude but be careful when overtaking or accelerating.

Low profiles and racing suspension doesnt help!!!

Take care;)

Thanks, guys :)

Oh yeah, the pub meet. I\'ll definately be there, and this time I won\'t have to slink off quietly to avoid anyone seeing the ugly 205 I showed up in :D

Uh, is it still at \'the wharf\' up in Dartford? Only, I know that there\'s been some talk about another meet at Bullington cross or somewhere... That was a separate thing, right, rather than a replacement venue?

Anyway, thanks for the reassurance :) I\'ve got a 200 mile round trip lined up for it tomorrow, taking some bike bits for my dad\'s restoration project up to Swindon. Should be a good solid test for it, and me. :)

Yeah still at the Wharf, this coming Tuesday.

200 miles tomorrow, soon you will discover the cost of fuel - thats gonna set you back 50-55 quid

Cheers

heh, there are worse ways to spend the money :)

Besides, I\'m sure I can get my dad to chip in a few quid. It is his stuff I\'m carting around, after all.
