Quote from: FEED RocketI\'ve done a search mate and there are loads of people with the same problem. Most likely will be the sensor i think.

Yup - my knock readings are all over the place and the motor would have popped a couple of years ago if it was knock :)

Oh - apparently it\'s more likely to be the connector to the sensor rather than the sensor itself breaking.

\'tis cool, got her booked in with Pip for a mapping session on the 4th of next month. Hopefully stop her running so bloody rich! lol

Does anyone know if a mapping sesh includes a dyno run as well? never had to have one done before!

Its supposed to be going to Mazda at the beginning of next month, is the connector part of the actual sensor? I thought they could replace it as its under warranty.

Well, it\'s kind of on the other end of the wire from the sensor itself ;)

Is your car under warranty from Mazda themselves? I guess you could ask them to change it (or clean the contacts in the connector) but as you will have read if something near the engine is generating noise at the frequency the knock microphone picks up then they can try as many sensors as they like... Better bet is to get a proper rotary tuner (i.e. not a Mazda dealer ;)) to check the engine is running properly with the correct air/fuel ratios etc so you know you can safely ignore the knock readings from the Power FC.

Yeah mate, you get a dyno read out as well..................

Wot all you got done and what you expecting HP wise.....???

Ohhh and leave the building when it\'s getting done mate, hearing your car go through a map is pretty scary .....lol.

I live close to Lincoln, anyone know where i can find a proper rotary tuner?

at the moment she has stock twins, Blitz induction kit, Blitz dump valve, Blitz turbo timer and boost controller, FMIC of unknown origin - I can\'t get low enough to see it! and an HKS Super Dragger exhaust.

Before engine rebuild she was kicking out about 300bhp alledgely - sound about right?

trotter, mines running 353bhp at fly, 299bhp at wheels. got apexi induction kits, Greddy boost controller, Greddy fmic and 3" downpipe all the way through with decat, and apexi ecu and commander. so yeh, sounds about right.

as for knock sensors, anything over 60 and the heat light will flicker - standard setting. this limit can be moved with an apexi, pip will do it when he maps it if need be.
the knock sensor can be "conned" into reading high levels if there is a dodgey engine mount, bush etc. Just ask pip he`ll sort it.
