all i seem to get is 0.4 boost all the time standard set up should be more then that right?

G@NDY

Is that Bar?

Standard twin set up should boost to 10 then dip to 7 for the change over for the second turbo then boost again to 10psi matey.

yep thats bar it does not dip  just goes up to 0.4 bar then stays there :/ allways been like that so i dont know if its right or not

Jimjitsu

just to add i can hear the first turbo very clearly upto 5000rpm after that cant hear the turbo noise so much any more is that normal

G@NDY

Just looked and 10psi is around 0.7 bar. So it looks to me that its not boosting properly and your second turbo isnt spooling up. You should feel the dip/change over when driving.

you`ve got a boost leak buddy :) o the joy lol... you should be se`ing 0.7 bar of boosty, 0.74 i think.. off comess the plenum time...

check all the easy to see pipes first, but most likely it`ll be under the plenum thats leaking..

cheers :)

so im looking for a ****ty vacuum hose then hmm thats gonna be fun

probedb

Coincidentally I have exactly the same problem but only boosting to 0.3 bar. Booked in for a fix as it needs mapping before my MOT really :)

Jimjitsu

this could get intresting as i have only ever know the car to be like this im guessing it might be a tad quicker then what im use to lol

Bobbit

have a look at the y-pipe coupling, mine have this prob and it was the pipe there (had an almight split). Can you hear a hissing? Also try replacing you pressure chamber, this can cause all sorts of boost probs, i picked up a spare for £5
:Laugh LOL

Are you geting your pressure reading from a boost gauge, if so then check your gauge 1st.
Also check your intercooler piping as i had an anoying boost leak and spent 2 days looking at every vac hose imaginable, turned out to be one of my silicone intercooler couplings, the clamp had sliped a little at the bottom where i could not see it and was leaking so i was running on .3bar

ok john came over and we pulled the plenum off no sign of any problems under there also replaced the pressure chamber tried two different gauges both do the same thing go to 0.4 the needle shakes around alot and it does dip when the second turbo tries to come on but it dips to 0.3 oh and there is alot of oil in the primary turbo intake :/ not sounding to great is it:rollin

Jimjitsu

might take you up on that but you dont know what your getting yourself into lol
