Here\'s a quote about a product on Rotechnik\'s website:

Phase 1
£110.00 free fitting

This devise has been developed to increase the boost pressure
by between 37% to 75% depending on the exhaust system used.
On a standard car power will increase by approximately 25bhp but
on a car with the catalytic converters removed and a performance
exhaust fitted, this increase will be approximately 50 bhp.
However mid range torque will be almost doubled giving the most
effect on acceleration.

What is it?

It\'s an FCD chaps - the other performance upgrade they do (stage 2) is a device to feed the boost solenoid with a variable duty cycle, taking the job away from the ECU.  Effectively a poor mans boost controller.

I would suggest you get better results with a boost controler and chipped ECU, as they have fueling maps for certain mods and usually remove the speed cut, rev cut, fuel cut.   The maps should extend to the limit of the map sensor - about 14-15 psi on the stock FC.  However, the stock intercooler isn\'t much use about 12psi as it\'s too restrictive, and the stock turbo won\'t really get up there either.  You also need to look at the intake and exhaust.

The FCD on it\'s own isn\'t too bad, the FC does run rich on WOT, and the fuel cut in the ECU is quite harsh.  Having said that, the FCD is basically lying about the amount of air going into the engine - pretending the boost is at 8psi when it\'s not !!  So you end up with more air in the engine than the ECU is fuelling for.  Because it generally runs rich you should be ok, but the larger the error (the FCD fixes the boost the ECU sees at 8 PSI max) the more lean the engine will run. Be warned !

How difficult is it to fit an FCD, is this just a bog standard FCD or would any do?

grinder

its about a 30 second job to be honest - if that

you only need to use one after you have fully decatted - as the turbo can breate easier

i had one on my old car and the narrowband showed it running rich thru the rev range - so you "should" be ok
