http://www.rx7.net.nz/jpnspc.htm - I always thought all the rx7\'s 280bhp standard but it look more like 260 :-s

Paul1982

There is a Card in the Glove box saying what the Apexi serial number is etc :-)

RobbieRX-7

Only the very late 1999-2001 rx7\'s were 280bhp.  All the rest are 255, and the uk and usa spec are about 235bhp due to the precat

Paul1982

Well i\'ve just texted the guy and he said he sold both items together - ecu and the controller :-( - i\'m fully shocked if my car is only pushing 270\'ish bhp as it fells faster Alot faster.

Grizzly

That was Nice of him :( You really need to put the PFC back on.

Trust me if you have a quickish Fd (on stock twins that would be 300rwhp at about 1 bar) you and every one around you will know its quick ;)

You will soon find that every time you drive the Fd it puts a Big grin on your face but the fuel it uses will unfortunatly it gives your bank manager a Nerves Brake down.

Serious mate, get a Power FC back on and get it mapped corectly ASAP.  If its running a straight through system, without cat and with filters it may be prone to det.

Better safe than sorry and all that :)

RX7 FD3S RE Amemiya AC037 - Gone but not forgotton!

Porsche 911 (964) C4 - Aircooled weekend fun!

Golf GT 170 (MKV) - Das verks mobile!

RobbieRX-7

Your sitting on a timb bomb with the stock ecu and an open exhaust system. Is it decatted?? As said above, it\'s just waitng to blow if the cat is removed and you give it some boost. I wonder why he sold the pfc?. Could you not ask to buy it back because it might already have the optimal map for your car?

Paul1982

Well his mate bought another RX7 a few months ago - he said it was running 315bhp at the wheels - so i guess his mate jumped at the chance in having it off him.
No i dont think its de-catted - just has a full system from cat back i\'m guessing. The intercooler and filters are not on the car at the moment as they was already taken off. By the sounds of it the guy probably knew the problems it might cause after he took the pfc off.

So how much is a PFC and who local to me can re-map it?

RobbieRX-7

Did he mention anything of uprated injectors or fuel pump? It sounds strange that you say it pi$$es over your other car, but it\'s 255bhp+-

As for the pfc, i got mine from nengun http://www.nengun.com/ It was the cheapest i could find at the time. The closest tuner to you is carl at hayward rotary. Check the adverts at the top of the page

reading that his last car was an MT2 turbo..... 255 bhp would **** over it. I have an MR2 turbo played with a little as a run around and my RX absolutly destroys the MR2 - i really dont have to try!

Ok, to get 315Hp at the Wheels you would have to have a Big fuel pump and an Aftermarket Fuel Regulator (dead give away) basicly to improve the Efficancy of the stock injectors you raise the rail pressure which in turn allows you to then raise the boost to anywhere between 1 and 1.2 bar. If you have a boost gauge and it doesn\'t go above 10psi or about .7 bar your running stock Boost.

have a look to see if there is one of these fitted

Paul1982

My MR2 had a Hybrid turbo and walbro 255 fuel pump and 544 injectors - it was running 296bhp (fly) - my m3 was 321bhp standard and elise was bell & colvill 160 upgrade.

All on paper should have better power-weight ratio - but it just dont.

There is no boost gauge on the car Grizzly and yes 0.7 bar is what its going upto.

as an example a guy i know has a Light weight Mr2 with simalar sort of power to yours and even though its quick i\'ve seen an Fd pull away from it quite easly with the same mods as yours just set up on a PFC running 13psi.

As for the Bmw don\'t they weigh like 1500kg? i have never raced one but if that is the weight and 320hp at the flywheel you should give one a good race in a stock/Lightly moded fd.

Sounds like it was proberly at 315 at the Flywheel an hes got it mixed up, 315 at the wheels you would defo know about (you would not be even saying M3,Mr2 or Elise in the same sentence)

My advice would be find out what fuel pump it has on it (stock or uprated and what Make/size) then if you have that covered buy a Decent Fuel reg and PFC then get it set up by a Pro for about 12-13 psi and you will be very happy, in the mean time try and not hammer it until you get the fuel sorted.
