slow in 1,2,3rd gears!!!!

hi all,i have a rx7 fd3 and seems very slow in first 3 gears??
1st gear....pulls but dont feel like much boost
2nd gear....same as above
3rd gear....getting better
4th gear....pulls like a bloody train!!!
5th gear ....takes off the planet!!!!
     i did have my blitz boost controller on but now turned it off!!!it feels better with it off but still dont feel right!???
              WITH BOOST CONTROLLER ON....
1st gear....boost to 0.001
2nd gear...boost to 0.001
3rd gear....boost to 0.9bar
4th gear...boost to 1 bar
5th gear...boost to 1 bar

Sounds like an issue with the rats nest, do a quick search in the 3rd gen folder for boost issues thread. Im having issues with mine at the min. Not as bad as that but issue with the solinoids.

You could do with giving a bit more info. Is it stock twins or a single turbo ? What level of mods are on the car, 1 bar is alot of boost on stock twins.

take the boost controller off first, then troubleshoot, many are also plumbed in wrong - i have sorted a few of these problems on friends cars now.

they are stock twins m8...i thought 1 bar was quite low though???
it has a full KSP exhaust system from turbo to outlet
hks super filter
most of the mods are to the brakes and bodywork though

HI mate

stock twins boost is 0.75 or there about, I think if I am right the first turbo is 0.75 second 0.8 but I could be of by 0.05

BUT with the boost controller turned OFF shouldnt it go back to stock boost???or do i need to disconnect battery etc then reconnect with controller off??/many thanks.Andy

Anything greater than stock boost without an aftermarket ECU can be quickly fatal for the engine. Please check that it is mapped to that or the engine won\'t last very long !!!!

Stock  boost is 10 psi 7 psi 10 psi, also its not 1st turbo then second its first then both at once. 1 bar is also the absolute maximum you want to push them (with all the supporting mods) before they just generate heat and go pop.

With rx7\'s they cannot be increased in power without having the ecu replaced and then a new one remapped. you may just be feeling fuel cut in the lower gears (which is dangerous in itself) as the ecu is saving th engine.

you need someone to check your setup, if you dont have a mapped aftermarket ecu you WILL blow your engine like this however if it is mapped etc you need to verify this and what boost its mapped at, get your boost controller set to what its mapped for or just standard boost.

i cant stress this enough but do this BEFORE you boot it as you may have a big bill on your hands if you dont. these cars are not comparable to any other motor.

well.....what a cheap fix that was!!!!air leak,rpm set too high,spark plugs needed changing.....

I hope you do not mind this replay but I got so confused by your reply re the turbos functions that I had to put up a tread in general technical re this, I think I am still correct in saying that the first turbo kicks in then the second one later not both at ones..

It is after all a sequential set up which so to speak separates both turbos…

Nothing personal mate just want to know ….

I guess you are correct according to my other tread...

I spent years thinking that the first turbo finishes and second comes in, I never new that the second kicks in while the first one is still  going...

You learn something new everyday I guess
