hi guys,

got a weirdness and was wondering if someone could shed some light on it, when the car starts the reading is past 150c (which is where it sits when its off). once the car warms up (3 - 4 mins) it then flicks straight to the 80c mark, it moves slightly around that area but not in conjunction with speed or idle, it just seems to hover there. If i stop the car and then start it 5/10 mins later it will either go back to 80c ish straight away or be around 100c and then as soon as the engine starts move back to 80c (which i guess it right as the oil might still be hot and the flow reduced the sensor temp).

Surely there is something wrong with this, i though moving it should sit near 60c (its just had an oil change so isnt low) and has twin oil coolers. Possibly wiring or dodgy temp sender maybe ?

any opinions appreciated.

Sounds like a dodgy sensor to me mate....... when you start from cold it should slowly raise from your minimum temp reading on the gauge!! my oil temp takes about 5 mins of driving befor it\'s at 40c, so something is wrong with yours!!!

well it turns out the \'oil\' temp gauge i was told about is actually a water temp gauge, followed the lead around and in the engine bay its water related, which explains why the temp stays around the 80c mark etc .... only weird thing is when turning off the car it jumps over 150c and wont regsiter a temp till 75c, but i can live with that for now
