Is anyone near me any good at diagnosing starting problems?

I think it\'s something to do with the injectors as I reckon the car is seriously flooding when I try and start it as causing a major fuel leak (see pic) coming through the turbo actuator.

If no one can help then I\'m going to have to get the car transported to Pip or somewhere else.

Cheers,

Paul.

Did you upgrade the injectors over stock 850/550. Are you running a pfc?

davehg

silly question time but are you sure its fuel and not oil as in the pic it looks very dark.
There are performance cars and then there is the RX-7...........

12.3 second 1/4 mile, terminal speed of 122mph (1st ever drag run on a TO4R)

engine built by....... umm me! now powered by a T51 Kai......

Jit

yeah that looks like oil to me as well.
have you pulled the plugs to see if shes flooded?
If it is fuel, did you pressurise the rail to make sure the o rings werent leaking fuel?

probedb

Standard injectors, standard ECU. It\'s definitely fuel...it smells rather a lot of fuel ;) I think the dark colour is just some oil washing out with it.

Haven\'t done that, how do you pressurize the fuel rail and does it mean me pulling the inlet manifold off? They were new o-rings and new insulators so unless they\'ve got crushed or something silly they should be ok I think but you never know.

Cheers!

Use a paper clip to short out the terminals gnd and fp inside the diagnosis box by the battery.

Jit

yeah as robbie says...thatll pressurise the rail. i did that with the rails off the engine just so i could make sure the orings which seat the injectors i nthe rail were ok and that the injectors were seated properly in the rail...

Sorry not had email updates so I didn\'t know yer\'d replied :)

Is it easy to figure which are gnd and fp, are they marked?

Cheers guys :) Might pop to my parents after work on Tuesday and give it a go.

Jit

yeh they are marked on the inside of the diagnostics box cover.

Cheers! I\'ve decided I can\'t be bothered with it any more...I\'m likely to hit it with something. If it was actually at my flat it\'d have been sorted ages ago but I keep having to go over to my folks at the weekend to try and do stuff :(

Oh well, will find out how much to get it transported to Pip\'s or Carl\'s....they can do the mapping once they\'ve fixed it as well :)

looks like the old engine is flooded jobbie as it it is TOTALLY full of fuel.  When you crank the engine to start it the new fuel has nowhere to go so forces it\'s way past the fuel rail rubber and trickles down onto the actuator.

Problem is it must have been a big leek to completly flood the engine.

Try to de-flood it and try again from there.  If you end up with the same problem then you have a bad injector.

Spoke to Pip this morning and he told me to do the same but crank it for lots longer than I did and also leave it to dry out over night this time. Might get a fan heater blowing on it the day after I crank it too. Injectors shouldn\'t be bust as I got all 4 cleaned and tested by Pip. So here\'s hoping.

If not then it\'s on the back of a trailer and over to Pip\'s.

Im sure you will be fine - well so long as while it\'s deflooding it doesn\'t get full of all this bl**dy rain! :2Mad  :Giggle
