Good evening chaps, as some of you may remember ive had a little trouble with my engine very soon after buying my car. After alot of thinking i have decided to pull the engine out and strip it down to see exactly what is wrong, Era(oldone) has offered to help me with the strip down so we can see what is wrong.
I was wondering if anybody around the midands area, might be able to help me out by lending me some engine lifting equiment, I am trying to do this as cheaply as possible as all my spare cash was spent on the car.

Thanks for your help :wave

Hi

Can\'t help with the hoist but I wouldn\'t think they would be expensive to hire.

I\'m not all that far from you, drop me an email I will help all I can with what little I know after stripping my own engine down.

I have an engine stand if thats any use, trouble is I think my friend might be using it for another 3/4 weeks... :(

When i pulled my first engine I hired an engine hoist for half a day for only a tenner, once it is out you can sit it on the sump and remove ancillaries until it is light enough to lug around by hand.
Make sure you take the bumper off before you get the hoist, as most hoists are not long enough to reach into an FD bay and get directly over the engine unles you have eremoved the bumper.
I think that tenner, (and paying Davehg to to come down and help me cos i was an engine removal noob at the time, thanks Dave) was the only cash i spent when removing the engine. :)

There are performance cars and then there is the RX-7...........

12.3 second 1/4 mile, terminal speed of 122mph (1st ever drag run on a TO4R)

engine built by....... umm me! now powered by a T51 Kai......

Hey Dave, i\'m still here, I just dont have as much reason to post seeing as I dont have a rotary at the mo!

I\'ve become a full-time lurker, I leap out at unsuspecting newbies and tell them that no, they wont get insured on a single turbo FD aged 18, and yes, it probably will need a rebuild if it\'s that cheap. :)

hi again, ive nearly got the engine out, just a quick question, theres a couple of posts on other threads that mention something about the cluch release mech that needs to be disconnected. How is this done the g/box is already split by about 2cm from the engine? have i done something wrong?

ooh just spotted this thread.Good luck. I really enjoyed rebuilding my engine. I\'ve got the 54mm socket and breaker bar, clutch alignment tool, and dial test indicator with magnetic base.
