For what it\'s worth,

Get a monster 3 rotor, still won’t keep up with those techi things round the country lanes dry or wet. BUT! I doubt if you will find an Evo to stay anywhere near me on a dry day on a good open road, I will kill it stone dead, in fact I will make it look,  rather silly. But it\'s gonna cost cost loads! :spank

lol great way of putting it

must have been a dry day and running over 400hp this guy is talking standard rx7 ad standard evo..the rex needs a ecu for light fettling but evo will be ok with basic mods and will be knocking on 350hp territory

Rotary_Menace

So a average (term used loosely) mildly modified rx7 i.e with power fc, straight through say 300FWhp  with the same driver ability would lose to an probably unmodified evoVI  being highly competitive i want to win round the track! racing on highway, down back roads doesn\'t really mean anything to me but losing on the track to also my highly competitive, ungraceful winner of a mate will leave a nasty taste!

Quote from: evo_rayI have owned an Evo IV and just bought myself a VI Tommi Mak as I missed evo ownership for a couple of months!!

The Evo\'s are fantastic all round cars. The performance is usually better than people expect and the handling is awsome. You would however certainly pay a lot more for a standard VI as compared to a standard RX!!

Around the track is as much down to the driver as it is down to the car. I have only owned the RX a couple of weeks and I love the rear wheel experience and am looking forward to the possibility of a track day soon (as soon as I resolve my boost issues).

Unlike Bramble, I love the AYC (although it does take some of the fun out of driving).  What would I prefer? A £2K bill to replace AYC or a £4K bill for an engine rebuild?:2eek

If you just want the cars for track days then I guess the RX is the one to go for but if you will be using them on the road as well, then probably an Evo.

going with an fd no matter what

Red and Single

These cars cannot be realistically compared, they are too different, the only comman things are that they are Japanese and Fast !

They will never tick the same boxes.

FD\'s are beautiful, rare, individual, agile electrifying things and offer an incredible ownership experience to those who cherish them.

Evo\'s are very very fast 4 door family saloons, but will never be verging on the supercar experience of a proper FD.

Similar speeds, different league altogether though.

fd all the way!

i have found many cars i\'ve raced scoobs evos etc etc even new mainstream cars are very powerful to 60 but ive always found the fd just keeps going an going and going ........ you get the idea.

no lag depending on setup and a well setup one will dust off most cars. all dependant on variables ie power driver setup spec and road.

oh yea just to add friday morning absolutely dusted a brand new 2007 xkr convertible :rollin
fduk.

m4drx

definately agree with the different league comments though.

i think the fd is a true drivers car with a real supercar feel from the shape to the feeling.

it has aged 15 years and still looks better in most opinions than any evo or scooby whereas a 15 year old evo...

however i want a fd now because i have sorted all my woes with it and found it to be overwhelmingly fun!!

in a simple way when it was average or a ordinary 14 year old rx7 it had xxx amount of problems some were obvious and some not some showd signs and others not. after alot of fettling 6 months worth infact my car is almost sorted to a very good standard meaning its is now so much more powerful predicatble and rewarding to drive and own!

the amount of bad fds out there i think exceeds any other such supercar.

when i first got it and with all the problems it wasnt that fast and handled...well not at all so i didnt want it after a while! now i just want to show everyone what it can do more so on a track than the streets.

saying all this i dont consider myself a "driver" of an fd for too much longer as its not financially or literally practical.... in comes evo/supra  more cruisers i think and practical in so many ways if i am honest i would say these are more mainstream and general all rounders whereas the fd ticks different boxes altogether.

as a family car i cant see better than a evo or a scoob not sure about fuel though isnt the evo the worst jap?

my 2p.. or probably 3p looking at the length :rollin

Quote from: rx7veilsidehave to say again as nice looking as the rex is it is great for track but out there on the roads the evos and imprezas will whup ur arse at the first sign of a damp road in the dry the best u can hope for it to stay with them but u wont whup em...driver skill is only for the track anyway as racing on the road is a mugs game

Road racing is a mugs game yes. But most of us do it a bit, hopefully, when it is relatively safe and dont get carried away. It is hard to resist although I am getting better at resisting as I get older.

The rest of your statement - well its hard because I think we are talking bog standard cars in which case your opinion has some merit, but not much :chat . But who drives a standard FD? I drive mine daily and its a bl00dy riot in the wet or dry!

Totaly agree. It really depends on which boxes you want ticked. As much as I love Evo\'s, I\'m totaly taken by the FD:InLove (my first FD!) So much so that I\'m already planning the next FD that I want:D. Even though I have some boost issues to reslove, the car is awsome. I\'ve been in m4drx\'s FD and I\'ve gotta say he\'s got one sweet motor, incredibly fast and revs forever. Can\'t wait to get my FD running sweet.

Best way to reslove this......have one of each:Giggle
