Well I\'ve decided to keep her!!!

I should have an engine here in just over a week from the forum member dazsir. 34,000 miles on the clock and it\'s all ok. :)

So unless something falls through, I\'ll be back on the road sooner than later hopefully.

Yay!!

Great news mate, this forum is full of a bunch of decent people that\'ll do anything to help you keep your car on the road !!!!

Jim_rx7

Yeah... now as long as you can all put up with a million "how do I", "where does this bit go", threads. We\'ll all be fine.

lol..... :D

Joeh

Would you sell me your engine and any spare parts you have please?

I\'m only going to use them to educate myself... just strip them and learn about stuff :) If you have turbos, that would be cool too, I wanted to learn how to upgrade the bearings etc o__o;

Even if they are duff, its only for education so its all good :) I\'ll probably end up throwing everything away in the end :O

First dibs if so :)

Martiny

Good one, Jim, glad you\'re keeping it.

Personally mate i would rebuild this new engine whilst it\'s out. Hell why not rebuild your own? You are only taking someones word that it\'s ok, but what if it\'s not? You will definitley sell the fd then lol

Yeah, I get what you\'re saying. It\'s the risk you take when buying a 2nd hand non-rebuilt engine. The engine only has 34K miles on the clock though. As long as it lasts me two years.... I\'ll be happy. I only do about 5K a year max!

Rebuilding the new one would be a possible idea. But what would you do if it\'s not gone already? Open it up and replace any parts looking worn?

Once you open it up, you\'ll need new water seals anyway, and there\'s no point in replacing a quarter of the seals so you might aswell strip the whole thing. The main pars that wear out are rotor housings and apex seals. If in good shape, these can also be reused. Most other parts can prob be reused depending on mileage, mazda tolerances and your budget. Obviously all O rings and gaskets cannot be reused.  If it is a genuine 30k motor it should have a good 30-40k left depending on how it\'s been treated and how you treat it. It\'s those water seals that most people have trouble with!
