Hi

Yesterday afternoon the fducking key broke in the drivers door…I had to go by tube with the girlfriend to get her car, go home, pick up my spare key, go back to the car and follow her Punto at 22.3 miles per hr to her home…

Any way, I guess I was lucky that the key did not break in the ignition…

What is the best way forward now….the lock seems to be jammed..

1) Do I get a second hand lock with a key and have 2 keys?

2) Do I fix the lock?  I tried to get the broken bit off out with out any luck by using girlfriends tweezers (Do I need a better tool?)

Help !!!

Michaelb

Rocho

I\'d have a go with some long nose plyers and use a bit of bruit force and try and pull it out - if the alternative is getting another lock then what have you got to loose?

fletcher9017

take your door handle off there is a small hole try and  push the key out abit so you can get your plyers on it

Grizzly

I did one for some one a few months ago, i used two small Picks and messed with it until it came out (was\'nt as hard as i thought) i also did an Ignition lock about a year ago, that was a Bugger to do until i turned the Steering wheel and the Lock came on, then it nearly fell out.

Has the little Flap on the lock closed?

I sugest you give it an hour or so\'s playing time before you take anything off.

Thanks chaps !!

Grizzly - I had a little try earlier in the rain...no luck, I may try again when it is dry out there...what a pain in the rectum..

Fletcher9017 - Are you saying that when you take the lock off you can push it through from the other side?

FD locks are very prone to this it seems.

Mine locked up once and I had to disassemble it to get it working again.

I now have an alarm with a central locking system fitted, now I dont need to use the lock at all.

there is a small hole where you can get a small flat head screw driver in to it to push the key out then get your pliers to pull it out thats if the flap has not gone over it

I\'ve got a complete set of locks. This includes ignition, door locks and key. (Everything except the boot & glove compartment).

If you want it, just make me an offer :)

Hi

Thanks for that, I may take you on your offer

OK, please let me know on michael@bukowskicomputers.co.uk how much you want for it, I am in London (North) so if I decide to buy it I could pick it up

It all depends on whether I can get the key bit out and fix the lock and also your price..

Hi All

Today I managed to get the broken key out, took the lock off, put it upside down and hit it with a metal object and guess what - the broken bit fell out !!!!

Thanks for the advice to get the lock out…
