Hello all,
I have a 1993 RX-7 efini (jap import) and it\'s fair to say the car is running fine. Oil pressure is approx 4-6kg/cm2 on normal running. She has done about 100,000 miles though on the original engine. Accel is good through the range too. Does anyone know when I should be looking to get an engine rebuild? If so, is there anywhere in Scotland that will do this for me? I stay on the Iske of Skye.

Many thanks.

100K is VERY good on a single engine.

I\'d say you\'ve past the point most people are forced to get a rebuild and you\'re lucky to have it running so well.

Rule of thumb is generally anywhere between 60-80K, but well looked after ones can go longer.

Better start saving...  :)

theres no builders in scotland bud unless its a diy build, closest is wgt.. when my first rex engine blew i had it removed at the garage in wishaw then sent to rework for the rebuild... now id do it all myself now i have alot better knowledge..

Thanks for the info lads. I guess I\'m lucky she\'s still running as good as she is. Yep, your right Redrummy, will have to start couting the pennies.........Interloper393, fancy doing a wee homer!!

JL1978

that is great mileage , I thought it was between 40k - 60k have you thought about doing a compression test as you could tell if there is any wear with the results

That\'s a really good idea JL1978, never thought of that. Guess I would have to take it into Inverness or somewhere to check that. Good point though.
I had her out today and gave the pedal the good news, 130 on the clock and she was itching for more. I can\'t really boot her up here on the Isle of Skye as it\'s tourist season and they tend to stop in the middle of the road to take pictures of sheep. (dunno why, so dinna ask!)
