ok just wondering if anyone who has had thier car resprayed  knows roughly how much paint it takes to do an FD.

im a total n00b at all this so any advice you can give would be great.

A nice job is around 700 upwards, but doesn\'t include engine bay, I think they black the inner doors etc and paint the outside, ferrari style apperantly?

i spoke to a man about respraying my car earlier he said i would need 3 litres..

i am after a complete colour change and want the whole lot doing, bootlid, door frames, under bonnet ( strut tops)..  so i think 3 litres is about rite with a bit left over to do interior bits.

hes giving me with a price on monday once he knows how much paint is going to cost and when he can book me in..

cheers guys..

What color you going for ??  or is it a secret !

The amount of paint itself is the least of your worries with a decent paint job. You\'d also need at least the same amount of primer (plus if you\'re not going for bare metal you\'ll need some kind of \'isolating\' coat - I *think* it\'s called barcoat) and a fairly large supply of elbow grease :).

My FC convertible is currently being done over by a bodyshop and they were expecting about ~50 hours worth of work (which includes some bodywork repairs, call it ~15 hours) and it looks like it\'ll take longer.

Mind you, it all depends on the finish you\'re after.

why are worrying about the amount of paint, the painter should price that all in the whole job, like i do and most other people i no the only time it may change is if your going with chamelions,or kandys even then i include it

FD3SNuttah

aye

the guy whos doin it says it will take him a week., there are a few dents and a few other bits n pieces that i wasnt smoothing / blending so it might even take him longer.

hes done a few jobs around ere and i hope he does a good un for me too, im pretty nervous as everytime ive had a car resprayed ive never been happy.

Teighto - have chosen a colour and you guessed it mate - its a secret!! hopefully ill be different to other RX\'s here...

scratchies your right mate... I was just interested in how much paint actually costs, then i can see how much im actually getting charged for labour.. hes goin to give me an "all in" price tomorrow...

mica base coat colour is about £30 per liter the lacquer if ici  about £150 for 5 liters including hardener  primer about 60 per 4 liters and barcoat if needed (unlikely) £20  he prob got most in stock but will charge for the use of goods    stu

elford_tim

To give you an idea, the guys who\'re doing my FC are charging around 400-450ish for the materials.
