thanks barry

barry798

how do you go about setting the pressure ?

Fish

The top right picture is the fuel pressure regulator. You set it there. (Hint, thats what the gauge is for. ;))

Fish

barry798

i know that but i ment how much you screw it lol

Fish

The normal fuel pressure is setup without any vacuum hose connected, and set it up for around 38-40 psi. I think thats what stock fuel pressure is.

You adjust it by loosening the top nut and with a hex key screw the bolt in, until you reach your goal.

thanks ill give it ago hopfully the 15 month wait will be worth it

Fish

One thing to remember is that if you adjust the fuelling, you\'ll need to adjust the map on the PFC (I guess you have one fitted).

o right carl set the car up using the p/c when all was standard apart from the single turbo conversion and the 044 pump , just now got the kg 16 inj and rail kit looks like another recovery down to carls again to set it up again

Carl

Hi Barry,
If you drive really carefully to mine you will be ok,just dont put your foot in or go over 3000 rpm.I would set your fuel pressure to around 30psi for starters.

Carl

30 psi? Unusual, why so low?

barry798

thanks carl just got to get some money for the insurance ,tax ,and mot talk about all things at once

Fish

Funny as I\'ve recently (Friday) checked mine, as I needed a way of leaning the mad rich idle and fast idle for MOT time. Noticed it was low, as I always thought that Mazda ran at around 38-40psi.

Failed the MOT at over double the allowed limit and the hydrowhatzits went off the scale.

As the PFC is locked down, I couldnt adjust it, to lean it out! I know that I should have taken it back for map correction, but when you work 6 days a week, even getting time off for an MOT is a real headache!

Oh well £45 gone as I wont be able to get the map corrected before the 10 day timescale for a free re-check.

(FD now off the road again :()

Carl

It is partly the porting that makes for rich at idle on your car Danny, but there must certainly be a sensor playing up too.
I can get it through the emmisions at our MOT center next door if you bring it down, and we\'ll see what else is causing all of your richness too.(Apart from working 6 day\'s a week!)
Give me a call during the week and we can book it in for you if you like.

The lower fuel pressure is only to get the car safely to me for you Barry,as long as you stay below 3000 rpm on light throttle you will be ok.

Carl
