Hey Guys,

Just thought I\'d post you the final pics of my ICE install.

I\'ve got an LCD motorised touch screen, to control the PC that’s mounted just behind the rear seats that you can just see wedged under the rear strut brace.

The output of this feeds both amps, the LHS powers both subs in stereo and the RHS feeds the front JBL speakers and rear tweeters.

I\'ve spent quite a long time on this, did all of it apart from actually cutting the perspex. Got two more things to do, I want to put a diode + small battery to power the computer so I don’t have to reboot it each time I stop and start the car and fit a relay so it can be all turned on by the now redundent fog light switch.

Hope you approve.

thats one nice install! have you dynamatted any of the car? because my rx7 feels abit tinny (1992) and seems like there would be alot of rattle and base from the subs wouldnt be felt from far outside the car??

LRP

are they free air subs ?? as there is no seal around the perspex ? subs in stereo i thought all subs were mono stereo can burn the voice coil out?? like the idea though is there fans on thoses amps as they will cook !! Are those tweeters on the back strut covers ?? i should of thought that would sound odd sounds meant to come at you if staged correctly??

It was a little tinny but that was because when I\'m running off the computer I was use media-engine (great free program btw) but it dont alow me to put a graphic equaliser balance on, so I spent ages tweaking the gains to get it right. I brought the tweaters after becuase when I was sat in the car my leg tends to cover the speaker and muffle it.

As for base outside, no, but thats becuase when I turn the volume up, the sound card can\'t handle the current output to the amp (only one of the two has a mosfet input) and it trips the computer out. So I\'ve limited it all so that the base is comparible to the front speakers without tripping out. Its loud but doesn\'t go stupidly loud as I\'m sure it could do.

No they are not free air subs, the perspex is screwed down, there is a gap at the front which is, errm, a mis-measurement. I was going to fix it but I put it all together and it sounded great so I left it. The enclosure size itself is far too small for even one sub, so to cheat I padded the inside with foam and the velvet cloth was left loose deliberately to absorb the power.
Never heard of burning out the voice coil, I would have through that may have occurred if you don’t use a LP filter on them?

I did fit 2 fans to vent out the box, but they made a terrible noise so I disconnected them. I\'ve been using this for about 3 months now and they haven\'t tripped out yet, prob cos I\'m not pushing either amp too hard.

Yes the tweeters are on the strut covers, was more because I couldn’t be bothered to run new cables in to the front. You can tell that they are behind you but as you know there isn\'t that much that comes out of them (symbols, cat squeelingm, owt else?) So it don’t bother me, I actually kinda like it!

148dB! Thats impressive, if I remember my acoustic module correctly the loudest sound you can actually generate is about 170dB in our atmoshphere.

It was difficult finding room to put everything in but I ended up removing the spare wheel and putting the inverter etc in there. If you ever do another build then go for it, I\'ve got a normal mini office dell pc, which is basically a laptop in desktop case, its quiet and could run strait off 12V (but I dont). Because there is nothing installed on it it boots very quickly.

Whats the difference between linear fan and a normal 12v dc fan?

i belive linear are just generally quieter always used them so hav nothing to compare to ? i was running 2 jl w6s  and polyfocal componet set  and the whole boot including spare wheel wheel was used and **** loads of dyna-mat was the key !!
dont think im going to do another build in this car i sold everythink to fund a rebuil and converting to single and i dont want to weight it down !! when i tock the last rebuild out i had to wind the suspension back down nearly 3 inches!!! alot of effort and drove the neighbours mad .. got a mate with a evo with 8 12s in the back i just go see him for a fix of basssssssssssss
