As has been stated before [on other threads] charge coolers work and dont impede the water cooling, they work very well if plumbed in correctly I know of a few of 500+hp UK cars running this setup.
Biggest problem with high power rotaries is the heat generated and getting rid of it, front mounts when you get to this level dont cut it, great for shows and short bursts but long term they reduce air flow to the water rad - not good news.
600 -700 hp is a big ask from a 1.3;) you get to 600 no probs with the right set up, 700\'s - new ground in this country - away from the drag strip that is.
V mounts are the new \'black\' if you know what I mean and they work very well again if set up correctly;)  At this level you will need WI or face running race fuel all the time.
Have a look at the PWR setup by far the best one around [V mount] at the moment available from Reworx in this country or as an import from Aus. I have this setup atm and running just shy of the magic 600....not for long though.:cool

well we all know who set my charge cooler up:(
off boost cool morning best temp was 45deg on boost with water injection still no lower that 45deg and after sitting wld be more like 45-50 on cruise

that sounds impressive john! well my rx7 will be hoping to reach that kind of power soon, what turbo are you running? did reworx fit your v-mount?

A t51bb is the turbo, REworx Im sure would be happy to do the install, but, if you are comfortable with spanners its a job you can do yourself;)

i would have thought a front mount would have the benefit of better air flow to the cooler?
does the v mount have ducting to the underside of the cooler ?
could someone explain how a v mount benefits over a front mount as i am current restarting my build for a similar power figure.
thankyou

Ok
Imagine you have your head out of car wind in your hair, can just remember that, big grin on ya chops, you can feel the wind cold on your teeth, but your tonsols behind are warm, thats your front mount.
Now open your mouth and the air rushes in roof of mouth and tongue feel cold, thats your V mount.

A V mount is your intercooler at top and rad at botton in a V shape, so wind through mouth of car gets to flow through both.
With the front mount, the intercooler in front gets all the cold air, but the rad behind it dose not benifit and so runs at a higher temp

Gary you are a genius that was the best explanation ive ever heard :D

I\'ll second the explanation...brilliant Gary !!!!!!

The only thing that should also be taken into consideration, is the veins on both the radiator and intercooler *can* different sizes. Air will always take the path of least resistance.

I have the dragon/radtec v-mount setup, and am finding it pretty good. In recent weeks, had intake at 25 degress (Friday night going down to dorset) - 28 degrees average coming back from dorset to bristol. Rad temps were 82 all the way, unless i stopped in ttraffic where they would start to come up, but would come back down again once moving.

I have found that it does require a bit of speed to be effective. 35mph+ starts to make a difference on the rad, but needs to be doing that for a little bit for it to \'take notice\'. Overall, seems pretty good.

Oh, and these temps are with an air filter mounted within the engine bay, but with a vented bonnet.

Surely it is best to have a vented bonnet for a V mount to work effeciently!
Would like to know.
cheers Bob

Where do you think the air goes now? surely if you fitted a vented bonnet your current setup would be more efficient?
Having run a vented bonnet with my current setup[V mount] and then changed back to a standard I have noticed little or no difference, mind you we have not got to summer yet.
