If any of you have read my post in the insurance section, you will know I been getting quotes for a 2001 RX7. Some of you have mentioned looking at older FD\'s as they can be put on a classic car policy etc - I haven\'t done this as I been tracking a ultra rare 2001 RB-S for the last couple of months, trying to work out if I can have it!

Cheers

Give AON a ring as they view these cars as future classics and we also have members with RX-8\'s on their books this way ( you will need a membership number to comply though )

As for you dilemma, take the car to the local Mazda dealership and have a three way test carried out,

One to test compression, one to pressurise the water system to test the water seals and the last a "sniffer" test to check for compression gases in the water system.

Cost should hopefully be around £120 which should be a small price to pay for peace of mind.

BTW we have had OJ in a 3rd gen for years and he\'s a tall boy ( no not the wooden variety) indeed he now has a Gen 1 he thinks he\'s going to get in as well :Giggle .

Hope this helps
All the best Clive

One thing you need to be very cearfull about, A car company [Mazda main dealer] near Brooklands used to import these and sell them as new [which they were] back in 2002 the airfield where the stock was held flooded and the cars were left in over 2 feet of water for over 3 weeks:2eek  The stock was written off and sold as salvage I know of 5 cars that were put back on the road and all 5 had on going electrical problems, not saying this is the case with this car but just be aware.
