i just failed my mot, sorted most of it simple things but was told my power steering is leaking i\'ve cleaned it all and it looks fine to me, there was fluid around it but the level hasn\'t drop since my last sevice, b4 the service the level was low so im thinking maybe i had a leak then and the guy fixed it, 1 of the hoses does look newish, and he did say he changed a few hoses, what i need to know is how they test it? do they just look at it and c if there any oil around it? or is it done on a com some how???

well they are going to look at it and then turn the wheels to each opposite lock to make sure that it does go to each lock, the wheels don\'t foul anything, checking the boots and suspension joints and lastly to make sure no fluid is seeping out of any hoses and joints. To be honest i would clean the whole area down and if you want if you use talc powder that will absorb any oil and dry it all up. Do the lock to lock test and if nothing comes out then send her back through for re-test. Hope this helps
