Right Hi All

Spent the day working on the car in my new garage :) .

Got the cat off no probs, got my gearbox brace and diff brace fitted no probs.

I left the best to last. The downpipe. I got the first two nuts off fine. The lower rear came off with the stud still attached, I can live with that. The Upper rear was a bugger to get at and sheared off .

So my question is whats the best way to get the rest of the stud out???

Also the front two studs are still there and usable? Would it be worth me replacing them with new bolts and if so How do I go about removing them???

If you have 2 good studs left in, best thing is to leave them alone!! As for the broken one, if you can get a molegrips on it then it should come out with that.... if you cant I\'m afraid it\'s turbo pack out for a drill out & retap session!! this happend to me 2 months ago... fiddley job to say the least (removing the turbos that is)

I take it the car is still on twins??

If you need any studs for the turbo pack for the downpipe let me know how quick you need them as I\'m going to order a couple from the US soon...about $10 each.

Well im thinking that I want to try and either weld another nut onto the end of the stud. Or either my m8 has suggested putting two nuts on the stud if theres enough thread left and tightening them against each other.

Im still on stock twins at the moment but I may have to take the turbos off soon anyway cos I think the secondary may be leaking oil but im not totally sure yet.

Anyone fancie a trip up north to give me a hand??? :)

Some people use some type of freezing spray.. I don\'t know how it works but I guess its worth a try?

No need to pay that or go to the states for them they are only normal exhaust studs and turbo repairer or dealer will be able to supply them.

the 2 nut method might work - like you say - depends on how much thread you have left

you could weld a nut on and try and get it off that way - but that depends how much space you have to work with

first things first - get it soaked in WD40 :D
