Quote from: Grub2000;781032What\'s ground clearance on the exhaust like? I would be interested to see if I could get some kind of switchable system like the monaro guys have.

Are standard brakes good enough for a standard LS1?

To give you an idea my car is about 25.25 inches from the ground to the middle of bottom of the front arch and the lowest point is at the bottom of the headers before the Y and I’ve had no problems with it grounding (yet). I wouldn’t like to say you could go much lower so the cut-outs would have to be somewhere else if you were going to have them.

As for the brakes I went for US Racingbrake 2 piece rotors with Mintex extreme pads which are a marked improvement over stock, but again this was when the exchange rate was much better than it is now.

I don’t mean to repeat myself but it all depends how you intend to use the car. Think of the performance it will have and ask yourself if the brakes you currently have will be up for the job? Also, I\'m guessing most insurance companies would like to see that you have upgraded the braking system in line with the extra power.

Thanks for your replies. I am sure I will have a few more in the future :)

Grub, drop me an email to steve@efini dot co dot uk, I\'ll do you a deal on the headers and custom rad I have. They were made around the Samberg mounting kit and the exhaust will mate up with a standard/aftermarket FD catback.
As for brakes, I don\'t think you can go far wrong with standard disks and a decent set of pads unless you\'re going on track.

You have mail.

Lossing weight always aids braking. So I\'ve gone that route and lost 100 kgs or so from my car. I\'m down to less than 1200 kgs but not recommended if you like you\'re creature comforts!
