Here are a couple of pics of the engine and gearbox, 1 showing the "F"body type rear sump that\'s needed to clear the subframe.
This is what it could sound like (I hope) http://videos.streetfire.net/video/d64c53e8-0e63-45e4-a122-996101360a6d.htm

ooooohhhhhhh im soooo jelous....   i will have to pop up and have a nose round
400 BHP - 650 KG\'s = 616 BHP Per Ton of Rotary Power

That\'s the way to do it! :Thumbsup!

antnicuk

i have an engine hoist that should lift that puppy in if you need,  just let me know i can bring it up.  its an extra long one, it lifted the tripple and its gearbox in to the fd with all the manifolds and turbo attached.

Thanks for the offer but I\'m going to try and slide it in from underneath on the new front subframe.
As the rad and aircon gear has been removed I shouldn’t have to get the front of the car up too high (easy to say eh?)
Come up any time, your more than welcome.

Anyone trying this at home, make sure you don’t just have a single garage and even worse a cobbled driveway. It’s no fun pushing a car about without subframes.:o

antnicuk

i like that, only problem is that my drive way has an slight decline, if i turned my back the car would be rolling down the road

Funny enough so has mine, it\'s ok getting it out of the garage but a bit of a pain getting it back in.

Looking good there,keep pics coming.

Here is a pic showing the extra bracing and diff nose mounts that’s been added to the rear subframe, along with one of the diff all bolted up. If you were going with a “normal” US conversion you wouldn’t have this, but you would get a torque arm to replace the Mazda PPF between the diff and the gearbox.

antnicuk

that is some serious strenghtening to the rear subframe,  did you have that done here? or did the whole thing come from the states?

I had it done by a guy in Canada who was doing a small group buy of his design to mount the diff, which apparently should stop any axel tramp so the diff has a fighting chance of surviving.

There is a thread somewhere where another ls1 owner strapped a web cam under his car looking at the rear subframe during some hard launches and you would not believe the amount of flexing going on.
