Hi there,
im just wanting to say hi to everybody on these boards, and am well chuffed i finally got an rx7.

I\'ve just moved to the West Midlands (Nuneaton) and hope to maybe see some of you around.

I don\'t know much about cars but im hoping to learn a lot from you guys and hope you guys can help me out ;)

First off, i was wondering if there are any rotary specialists around my area, and secondly if you guys could help me solve my first rx problem.

When i drive her sometimes, she feels like she doesnt want to go. I put my foot down and its like feeding it kangaroo juice and backblasts a lot, she doesnt want to go at all. It happens every now and again and is annoying (let alone embarassing) as hell. I usually stop give her a break, turn ignition off after a bit and restart, which usually solves it for a little while.
Anyone know what it could be ? i bought her @ 8 months ago with a full engine rebuild so hopefully its nothing major .

hi and welcome !
don\'t know your area so i\'ll leave it up to someone else to point you in the direction of a rotary specialist i\'m afraid!
As for your intermittent kangaroo problem, i\'ll leave it that for the said specialist.
So a fairly useless reply hehe!

Welcome... i\'m located Long Eaton, Nottingham. So not too far away. Plenty of RX7 owners in and popping up in the Midlands area.
Local specialist is WGT, based in Middleton, near Manchester. Closer to you than me most likely. Ran by a guy called Pip. What he don\'t know about Rotaries ain\'t worth knowing i\'m thinking.

I have a 1993 UK spec RX7 FD13 in Silver. Rare i\'ve been told! lol.

Any questions... feel free to ask. People on here are only too happy to help. Something you\'ll learn about RX7 owners on the whole.

Your problem to me sounds more fuel or ignition orientated. When were the plugs and leads last changed? I\'d make sure that you\'re running 7\'s on the leading plugs and 9\'s on the trailing plugs. A set of Magnecor wires are a good investment too.

just a quick point, your fd wont let you floor it out of the hole so to speak, will prob have a 5-10 minute warmup mode where "she just doesnt want to go". wait till coolant gauge is reading around middle and not the bottom, then your set :)

this got me when i bought mine.

Welcome to MRC mate,

sounds like either a spark plug issue or boost leak or over boosting, get it checked out asap as you dont wanna cause any damage dude,

There is a water temp sensor that tells the ecu that it is starting from cold, sounds like that sensor is on way out and needs changing, exact same symtoms I had.

could also be the air intake temp sensor, made mine run like poo! Best advice is same as above, get it to a specialist, but fault finding can take time and patience! Oh, and welcome!

Hi and welcome mate, I live in Warwick, not to far away.

There is a place in Coventry called Hurley Engineering. Do a search on them and make up your own mind. I have been there for basic stuff like its first service and general advice and they have always been fine and helped me, but any major work or tuning i now think im going to take it to WGT or RoTechniks as only had the rex for about half a year and a few mods have been taking place.
