Quote from: hawker182Covered in powersteering fluid, grime from the engine housing and now have a few extra 1" gouges on both of my hands......oh and half of the sahara dessert in my eyes lol

Ouch!  It\'s a feeling I think we all know too well! :evillaugh

Good progress mate!

hawker182

Ok quick update, this arrived this morn :D

along with his :evillaugh

hawker182

And now kinda looks like this lol

This is no way finished by the way, its literally holding itself together, i was just trying to figure out which pipe goes where, i need a few more bits and bobs to sort it out nicely, ie a nice 45degree bend coming off the turbo....etc

But its getting there

Prof

Looks like you picked up some extra injector holders in one of those pipes ;) :cool

Seems you have an extra intercooler now too - are you going with Front mount ?

Yeah its mounted right in the front and sits directly in front of the holes in the front bumper, once its all sorted and tightened up it\'ll be sweet. And yeah these we\'re added by the guy that owned it before, there are a set of two injector holders with blocking of plates and a flange for a HKS BOV...tasty

Ok quick update once again, been pretty busy this week and got a fair bit done. This is how we\'re looking at present, starting to come together

hawker182

Have made a template which you can see hides all the nastyness, the original shroud i have removed, just need to get this cut from alluminium and should be looking a little more Bling. As you can see the IC sits almost perfect down in the front bumper.

hawker182

Just awaiting the Greddy Elbow from the states, should be along in a week or so then i can get this finished off nicely

hawker182

Regards to where i got with the powersteering, its in and fitted, just making a bracket to secure it where the battery used to go. Such an easy mod, the old PS high pressure and low pressure lines fitted straight on to the Saxo pump without any bother and i mounted the PS reservoir on the end of the fuse box. Yet to test it as the engine is not running at mo....Fingers crossed all should be good!

Old fuel pump is out ready for the new one coming from Grinder, its an FD pump so will be a nice little upgrade. Heres a pic in case your not sure what the stock pump looks like. Real easy to get out just remove the 4screws holding the cover down under the insulation in the boot, remove the two fuel lines......make sure you\'ve released the pressure first, then take out the small screws holding the pump in place, about 8 if i remember. These were a pain as they are small and caked in grime so ended up rounding a few off but they all came out pretty easily. Then just lift out the fuel pump with a bit of giggery pokery and hey presto.....and boy what a smell, sure glad i didnt have a fag in my mouth! lol

hawker182

Next on the to do list is fit the greddy elbow, install the fuel pump, change the plugs, leads and filters. Find a suitable induction pipe and make a cold air box outa alluminium and polystyrene, fit in the cold air feed from the front bumper to the cold air box, fill up the coolant, change the oil, stick some petrol in her and hope to god she starts!

Not too much else planned at present, just wanna get her running again before i take on any other major jobs. It\'ll be MOT time then so will concentrate on getting her through that.

antnicuk

looking good

are you putting the fan shroud back, i think you will need it to make the fan work properly
400 BHP - 650 KG\'s = 616 BHP Per Ton of Rotary Power

That\'s the way to do it! :Thumbsup!

hawker182

Wont be putting the shroud back on due to not having it lol. Will be plumbing in some temp gauges in the future to keep an eye on whats happening up front, other than that it ran fine when i was driving it about before i decided to take it off the road.

Will prob go towards the idea of an electric fan anyway and hopefully pick up the shroud that will come with that. All is good though and i am happy with the progress so far!

monterx7

i remember when i did that exact thing. just installed a motor and was letting it run (without the shroud) for abit to check for leaks...next thing i knew i had a slippery slimmy mess that reached about 10ft past the car

everything is looking good. i really like the saxo ps pump. will be doing that soon i hope.
