Guys,

Ive had EBC red stuffs, currently using black diamond predator track pads.
Want to try something new, need something thats not going to fade as im going to the nurburgring. What would you all suggest? any experience of the Hawk HP pads? Or any others?

suggestions please!

Hi Carl,

Although we sell Hawk HP+ personally we only use these for the rear as they are very "grab n stop" on the front and we had complaints about them being dirty plus I had them fade  !,

These days we now have lots and lots of very happy customers with FC\'s, FD\'s and FE\'s on our new Mintex Xtream pads as they give good cold stopping are clean for your wheels compared to most and are also good for track days with no fade from one of our customers after 100 laps around Brands, and at £120 for a front and rear set delivered represent excellent value, and we have them in stock.

I\'ve got Hawk HP all round and they offer excellent stopping at any speed.  They didn\'t fade on me at the Ring last year but I didn\'t really test them that much.  Problems arising are extremely dirty wheels, screeching and slight scoring to the discs.

In the past I\'ve used mintex pads and tarox discs and couldn\'t be happier, so even though I\'ve never used them on the FD I\'d still recommend Mintex and getting them from Clive at MRP/Shy :)

Hi Rob (and Bob), thankyou for your comments.

Even though you liked your Mintex pads Rob, these new Mintex pads are loads better than the old compounds that people tried to use as a Road/Track pad and seem to be the best pad by far for the RX7/8 for being a real good all purpose pad.

I\'m suprised that the Hawk Hp is the pad you\'re using. This is pretty much the entry level pad for hawk. I\'ve used their brakes in all my racing for the last few years, and I will be using HT10\'s at least, if not HT15. I\'d have thought for trackdays or similar then you\'d at least need blue 9012 - i\'m not suprised you had fade on the HP.s

Theres only one choice really....PERFORMANCE FRICTION 01 COMPOUND!!!!

This is what all our champ car guys use, aswell as the group n tarmac rally guys and WTCC cars.

PS....Panspeed Japan use this compound on the fastest rx7 round tsukuba circuit.

Give me a call i can sort out a good deal :D

Dan are the Z rated still in production? I loved these on track. :)

Fish

Dan Norton

Z rate will be our fast road/trackday pad.....we have 97/01/03/05 compounds now.

The Carbon Metallic/ Z rate you have experienced Fish will more than likely be our 97 compound.....for track use on rx7\'s, 97 and 01 are the only 2 compounds you need.

01 offers higher initial bite (once upto temp) than 97, but wears more.
Bit like a ferodo ds2500 (less bite)v ds3000 (higher bite).....but ours have linear torque properties, so friction values do not rise the hotter they get unlike the ferodo\'s....
The friction values increase the harder you push the pedal making it more controllable.

What i see at the recent MLR club brake test was that the DS3000 ate the AP Formula Disc....and i mean ATE, great big ridges int he face of the disc.

No one should ever buy Hawk HT for track use
HPS preety much as stock mazda pads, HT+ slight upgrade to a stock pad, fast street pads or light track use would be Blue\'s or Black\'s, HT10 are good track pads but for real serious work there are HT14\'s and 15\'s but Tony, will let you try the new pad, better then the HT14 & 15 being used by most of the GT porkers racing.
Endless are exelent but dear, Performance friction in stock very soon, will continue my talks with Dan on Monday.
Ferodos are very popular with customers 2500 or 3000 compounds.
All found here plus other makes.
