My existing engine is coming up to 5k miles so I have sourced another block and as usual looking for a little more power. I currently have 350 rwhp at 1 bar and 380 at 1.2.  The power peaks at 7200 rpm but comes in really early due to my GT35/40 with a T4 flange having a 0.96 hot side.

The new engine is still a Turbo II block but will have FD 1996 spec E shaft, stationary gears and oil system including coolers and regulators. I have done this because i want this one to rev higher.  I have also clearanced the rotors. My current set up uses S4 low comp rotors but i will be sticking with S5/6 rotors this time, hopefully the extra compression will help early spooling.

I have made the ports a lot larger this time but still not bridging.  I have also done a lot of work on the runners and the manifold.  The main reason is to try and make the power band last longer.

I am changing the hot side on the turbo to a 1.15 which is quite a bit larger to also help flow at higher rpm but i dont want it to be too laggy so fingers crossed.

I would like to see 400 at the wheels at 1 bar but still be as driveable as mine is now.  The rest of the set up has loads of scope for more power, the exhaust is 3" downpipe to two 3 inch rear boxes, the fuel system is only hitting 63% duty at 1 bar boost at 43psi base fuel pressure, the inlet track is all 3 inch and it has water injection.

I will keep you posted, I should be assembling in the next couple of weeks although i want to try my exhaust housing on the current set up first together with my modded UIM to see the differences.

That\'s the way to do it! :Thumbsup!

Very nice spec :yes
You got a good LSD in there these days?

I\'m running the stock Mazda LSD from an Efini import, its taken lots of track time and drag (and a little bit of drifting) with no signs of any problems.  I sold the 2 way, just too extreme for my liking, I have put loads of effort into making the car quiet and as refined as possible without sacrificing power or handling. Its taken a lot of work but makes it really nice to drive.

I think the way a TII diff is mounted makes it less prone breaking than an FD one as its braced to the chassis with 2 long arms which help stop it twisting and to the subframe at the front by the prop.  I have replaced all these mounts with Mazdatrix uprated rubber ones as solid were too harsh.

Going to be interesting to see what you get after all that hard work :yes

Hi Ant,
Have you still got the solid mounts?

antnicuk

i dont have the mounts anymore, some kind moderator knicked them

as for spec, its stock 550cc primaries, 1680 secondaries,  bosch 044 fuel pump from a swirl pot.
Porting is very conservative on the current set up but works really well with the turbo thats on it.  I left the runners alone and just opened up the port a little on both the primaries and secondaries.  The exhaust ports were enlarged by about 2mm all the way round.  I use an FD upper inlet manifold but am going back to FC on the new engine.

The new engine has a lot larger ports,  the test will be to see if the performance is better....... fingers crossed.

yes, still going with the finishing touches today, just polishing a little more.  Then i have to clean everything , put the exhaust sleeves back in and do a couple of small mods to the rotor housings

Want to get it in and mapped by beginning of june so i know its ready for the ring on the 15th

Hi Ant,

Where did you get the GT35 with a T4 flange ? I\'ve got a GT35 but has a T3 flange.
I know i\'m going to have an issue fitting this and I\'ve been looking into some type of Adaptor flange but this would reduce the space available to mount the thing.

Any ideas ?

All the best

I got my Turbo from Edrx7 on here, i think he got it from america.  I assume you have a T4 manifold then?

You could fit the T4 flange to the manifold, just get it welded.

check US flee bay for T3-T4 adapters. Cost you 60 USD and will do what you need.
