Imports & Registering.....

Been importing cars for the past 10 years now as a second business but i\'ve been offered an FD from a trader friend with a problem that i\'ve never had to deal with before.

The car is a quite mint recent import, with all the paperwork apart from the Japanese de-registration document.  Now the Japanese wont issue a second de-reg document to him.  He has however got the english translation version.

Anyone know wether or not I could register this FD?  I\'ve been on the phone to the DVLA but got fed up after not being able to talk to anyone who had a brain.

Basically the car has every document to be registered expect the Japanese de-reg.

Any ideas?  Or should I just not bother?

I import cars 2, from what iv read and been told if theres no de-reg doc then it cant be registered, something to do with the long number on the top left of the doc.. best peeps to talks to is the dvla but like you said, there a bunch of nuggets lol.. iv had many run-ins with my local one. so much that im on first name basis "C**t" i think they call me :yes

(not heard of not issuing 2nds...I thought it was just another payment required?)

I pretty much thought there wasnt much chance of getting it done, just thought there might be some loop hole if the english de-reg version was still available.

You used to be able to get 2nd\'s from Japan at a price but recent changes in Japanese laws means that no copies of de-reg\'s will be issued.  That\'s what my agent in Japan has confirmed with me.  Seems abit daft if it\'s an honest mistake and lost.

Freddy - im not sure what he\'s doing with it at the moment I think he offered it too me in hope that I could register it.  I\'ll find out anyway how much he wants for it, it\'s a pretty mint car, but i think it\'s thrown it\'s coolant seals.

Interloper393 - No worries mate should see him sometime over the next week or so.  I think it\'s basically a standard r1.

Freddy - Had to take a second look at your location then, I didnt think France was that close! LOL.  I\'ll give you a shout when I get my rx7 back on the road maybe organise a bit of a mini meet when the weather gets better.
