Rad question

I\'m in the middle of sorting out my V-mount IC & I\'m going to be using my stock rad for the time beaing!! My initial though was to turn the rad upside down because then the pipes would be in rougly the correct place & nothing would be sticking out the bottom of the car!

The pic below is a stoc rad & the pipe with the 45 degree bend in it is usualy the top hose, I was going to use this as the bottom hose, but then I noticed the small pipe that goes from the AST tank (bottom of it) to the bottom of the rad!!! Does this need to be at the bottom of the rad or would it be OK at the top???
