Hi Chaps,

I have got one of Garys great Scoot bonnets and after a lot of work getting it to fit with my Greddy SMIC and HKS RS kit I am in a position to fit it shortly.

But need some help as to the bonnet catches.

Do I go with the standard fitting one or go with the aerocatches I bought ?

If I go standard can anyone tell me what screws I need to screw the bonnet \'ring catch\' onto the bonnet with ?

If I go with the aerocatches, where should I mount them ? Front or back as shown below ?

Open to suggestions over whether they should be mounted these ways or 90 degrees anticlockwise.

Any help much appreciated.

Thanks,

Gareth

I used 4 catch\'s two either side like you have them posistioned.
I used standed bonnet pins not as nice your aerocatches I like those how much did they cost you mate.

Cheers

They were about £40 from Driftworks.

Isnt 4 a bit overkill though ?

Cheers Pete, thanks for your help with the pics showing me how much you had cut out.

It was a constant, test fit...bugger...more needs to come off, more off...test fit...bugger..more off etc etc etc.

Good fun though.

I dont think I have had any bit fit perfectly on the car yet without some work needed lol.

I have the Aero catches in the position behind the headlights, 4 would be overkill, my bonnet doesnt weigh much and it does lift at warp factor.

2 words of warning about these catches tho; 1) use stainless screws in them - the anodised crap that came with mine were rusty inside of 2 weeks, and 2) lubricate them regularly as one of mine was at the point of nearly snapping before it would close at the Ring last week...

TBH, I\'d used different catches if I didnt have big holes in the bonnet now from fittings these! :o

Yeah, fit them behind the headlights. That\'s what i did with the pins i got from gary.

Ok cheers for the advice chaps, what I might do is fit the bonnet catch that Gary has provided and see how I get on.

Gary, what is the thread for the metal piece the catch screws into ?

In the same boat here guys, if you are using similar catches/pins, i am using the flush mount ones, do you still require the use of the original bonnet catch mechanism?

nikp

I still use my original bonnet catch mechanism, yeah. So I have two pins and the central bonnet catch. It\'s what Gary recommends

Only original Scoot bonnets require no bonnet catches. Copies are never of good quality.

Use catches behind the headlights. Also helps to stop the sides from lifting at speed.

Use the standard bonnet catch too - there will be a day you\'ll forget to lock the catches and it\'ll save your bonnet from coming up.

I have been told my an indepedant body shop that the quality of Gary\'s scoot copy bonnets are extremely good.

I ran a car for over a year with no pins at all with the GRP bonnet and never had any problems, but that was my gamble. I would never recommend anyone using mine or original scoot to drive with no pins. The standard catch is a safety catch that if you do forget or at a show on a windy day you wont loose it.

Thanks for all the advice chaps !

I agree the Scoot original would be the best but to be honest I didnt have 2k for one.

Garys come highly recommended on here and at a good price.
