Was told today my car hadn\'t gone for SVA as it failed MOT yesterday on emissions so they\'re going to sort this before doing SVA.
I recall sum threads with different emission settings, or wotever its called for this that & the other year but they do loadsa RX7\'s so presume they have this correct but if you have it to hand wood be nice for reference
More to the point how likely is that emissions will be awry on a \'96 with only real mods being induction kit & back box???? & what are they likely to do that will rectify this?
Si (must ask more questions)

Ahhh, Motomall...

They had my car for 2 months in the end after it landed. Gave up and got Geff to sort it in the end. I think he does a fair amount of work for them on and off to this day...

Any one who knows a Rotary will stick a cat (if its missing) and a Power FC on it and get it thru SVA, dont worry mate...

Its frustrating mate, but you\'ll get it in the end. I was mad as f#ck with having to wait weeks longer than I was told for my car. Then the shits gave it to me with about 3ml of petrol :(

Drive home WILL make it worth while though, I was smiling all the way. Blimey, nearly 2 years ago now...

If you can take it down to Thames Valley MOT, Dave Thompson will be able to sort you out without modifying your current setup. He\'s at Reading.. is this too far?

Mine was highly modified and the reading was double the acceptable figures! so instead of doing things to the car, I took it from the importers to the MOT place.

This is just a backup plan Si, cos if you can make it pass then try and do so...hope this helps.

It needs to pass an SVA, an MOT is a different kettle of fiah i.e. you actually have to make the car pass emissions!! ;)

if i remember. was told ... remove power from relay on air pump so  it runs constantly. restrict an air pipe. and use apexi contoller to adjust injector pulses . very confusing     very bad guide. im new to the rotary word.  learning though   i think:p
if i had 8 hour to cut down a tree. i`d spend 6 sharpening the axe

Main thing is stick a Power FC on it and give to some one who knows what they\'re at...

hmmm i\'m too far away to just pop round & take car to someone else but we\'ll see how they go with it........
Was more intreged about how it can be so bad on emissions when it still has cat, presumably in the centre section & as i say only breathing mods backbox & induction & ECU is standard as far as i no, surely it shouldn\'t be so bad?
Wood be nice if they gave me a power FC free of charge mind hmmm [/optimism mode off] lol

This happened to me, when i picked up the car about 2 mins down the road the thing ran out out petrol so they had to come out with a couple of cans

Think it\'s pot luck - I had enough in mine to do the 100+ mile trip back home.

Possibly, but take a can of optimax with u, that way you\'ll be able to get to a decent filling station. I had to send the old man off in search of any petroleum he could find! Turned out Sainsburys was the closest from recollection. That was amusing, learning a fresh twin plate clutch on the forecourt, oops stalled it again...

Hi Si  because the car is a post aug 95 and it\'s chassis details is not in vosa\'s books they give it a default emissions test which a rx7 will never pass no matter how standard it is. lambda needs to between 0.97 - 1.03 at fast idle co need to be max0.3 at fast idle
and 0.5 and normal idle. Motormall has done enough of miguels cars to know how to go about it i\'m sure.

aha cheers boss that may explain it & i already have a map of nearest shell garage on M20 & a nice 15ltr container to fill it on the way down :cool
So outa interest then what can/do they & you/others do when you need an MOT on the newer cars is there sum cunning trick??

It\'s a matter of getting the timing right for emissions and leaning out the fuelling, no real big problem most of the time. Hence the need for a programmable aftermarket ECU to do it.
