Took my car down to Hayward Rotary on Saturday, so I\'ve hired a car to get me from A to B

Now initially I went for the cheapest option which would be a Ford Ka, but lucky old me got a free upgrade to a 1.4 Corsa SXI

Day 1

Okay so pick up the Corsa, in black, which is good because it makes it look better than it actually is.

Get inside. Kinda spacious. more so than the rex. figure hugging seats if you\'re fat (I\'m not). Interior is a bit plasticky.

Okay switch it on....erm...is it running? Unlike my rex it has no booming bass of an exhaust. I have to check the rev counter to see if its running. It is. Adjust mirrors, all electric...the corsa has come a long way since the old one I had.

Right, let\'s go to work. Indicator on. It\'s one of those new fancy ones that returns to the centre. Okay into traffic. Now cancel. Okay pulling on the indicator stalk the opposite direction isn\'t working, I\'m now indicating the other way. Try to cancel the other way...okay now I\'m signalling to go into the other lane. Try forwards, no that flashes the headlights. Last chance wiggle the car a bit. Excellent indicator cancelled. However I think that would be bad to do everytime I want to stop indicating

Hmmm looking out the back the visibility is about as good as the rex. I\'m not sure I\'m going to enjoy this.

if its like the astra\'s at work, just move the stalk half way in the same direction you are already indicating and it should cancel but i\'m sure you have figure it out by now.
400 BHP - 650 KG\'s = 616 BHP Per Ton of Rotary Power

That\'s the way to do it! :Thumbsup!

so me and the corsa survived the first day together.

I have learnt how to use the indicators properly.

So I\'m a little earlier this morning and the A31 is a bit clearer. Crikey its hard work to get it to go anywhere. The power only comes in at about 4000 rpm and it takes a long time to get there, without a bit of fancy gear stickery.

anyway his the straight bit and boot it. Foot welded to the floor. And we squeeze 100 out of it...which seems to suggest that the speedo in my rex isn\'t broken at all and I do actually drive that fast.

Also when keeping it in the power band is seems to drink petrol like the rex does too...good to see that it\'s not just us that suffer.

LOL you are compairing a Vauxhall Corsa to a RX7? :Giggle

I drive loads of Vauxhalls and The Corsa is not the Best in the range but if i was looking for that sort of car i\'d buy the 1.3 Turbo Diesel (they go well) better than the 1.4 petrol.

But you should have got a Astra VXR or Turbo Diesel. They are suprisingly good for what they are.

One thing I have noticed in the Corsa is the amount of body roll it has. It is quite scary putting it into a bend.

Another thing is how good the brakes are...or maybe mine on the rex need new brake fluid. The only problem with the brakes are they are a bit: nothing, nothing, nothing......two large anchors flung out the back to stop you DEAD. And it wiggles a bit too much when you jam them on.

Are you real? you drive an FD one of the best Handling cars out there and your expecting what? from one of the cheapest cars out there???? You honistly shocked it body rolls? LOL

gonzoninja

yup, just seeing how the other half live and how I\'ve been spoilt by driving a rex.

plus also it now scares the Sh*t out of me when I see boy racers putting their corsa, with the only mods bein a big exhaust,, into a corner at 70.

Thing is (no offence ment) but there Aimed for the Typical Woman driver, There Cheap,Comfortable to drive, good on Juice, Can get your shopping in etc etc. You could say the Corsa is better than the FD? Why you ask? well if you want an A to B car no frills look at the Running cost, i need say no more.

They realy are not designed to do 80 round bends and to even compair a Corsa to an FD is mad.

you\'ll find the Only reason Chav\'s drive Corsa\'s with Neons and Kits is the Cost, if the FD cost the same to run and Insure do you think you\'d see Chav\'d out Corsa\'s? Lets face it Chav\'s have no idea of whats fast, they add Body kits and junk like that then hammer it to 1" of its life (and theres)

I think you probably have offended ALL to women on this forum, good job I didn\'t post this on JapGirls eh? ;)

I think its more a vauxall thing, I can show you the Corsa sales Blurb and i garantee you will not see any Males under 70 in it. Have a Guess what Market the Corsa is aimed at.

moosey

Last time I drove a Corsa I seem to remember the gear shift emulating
moving a single golf club around an empty golf bag. Has anything changed
in this regard?!

shaunwil

lol, when I had the 106 the body roll was half of the fun.............. Have you tried getting it on 3 wheels :D

Seriously though when i had my axgt and somebody crashed into me i had a new shape corsa (last model). Couldn\'t wait to give the most boringest car back.

Im surprised how you haven\'t mentioned the lack of feedback through the steering wheel and the lack of anything.

I drive my bosses astra diesel and i am growing to like it and yes the brakes are the same. I prefer the fd brakes where you need to push them hard to do an emergency brake.

If you think they are bad you should try the new golf, no pedal feedback (not even sure its connected to the braking system) and stupid amounts of stopping power.

Some of the new cars now just arn\'t any fun to drive, they are mile munchers on the motorway.

Hehe, my mum has a 1.2 SXi. It\'s not actually that bad a little car, as with all small engined it\'s nippy off the line if you get it right but then it\'s so sluggish it\'s unbelievable and getting to 70 takes forever.

Too much body roll too, then again it\'s far less than on my mum\'s previous Rover 200, that was bad!
