Im taking it real easy at the moment, i get really paranoiod just driving around incase anyone gets too close to her!!

DC1 - if you see a black N reg rex around kettering come say hi!

Ate thru £30 worth of petrol yesterday alone just driving normally (covered ledd than 100miles!) but well worth it!

Just one thing i cant work out (not really important, but nice to know..) i dont get the BOV?! Obviosly when i blip the throttle a fair amount it sounds, and if i give it a little boot in 1st, 2nd, but thats about it! I know the turbos have to be spooled up for it to sound, but then this morning whilst driving at a normal (30ish mph) and changed gear it \'whoosed\' and caught half the street by suprise!

It just seems to sound when it likes! Is this just me being a tool?!

Have you got a boost gauge?

Mine is mapped to a maximum boost of 0.9bar... and my BOV only sounds after I accelerate hard enough to get positive boost... the more boost, the more BOV noise... (obvioulsy, cos its releasing the pressure)

you can eassily drive off-boost (negative pressure) without really using the turbos and without getting any BOV noise. But then why would you want to do that?  ;)

If you accelerate hard in 3rd gear from about 30mph (~2000rpm) with wide open throttle, you should hear the first turbo spool up, and at about 4,500rpm it\'ll release (possible slight BOV noise) and the second turbo will pick up.... from then on the second turbo will keep spooling until you release the throttle and boost will build up to your maximum.  When you release the throttle you\'ll get the main BOV noise and pressure release...

The transition from first to second turbo should be smooth and the power delivery should be constant... though you might hear/feel a slight dip in boost.

If you don\'t have a boost gauge (aftermarket one that is) I\'d recommend getting one... it can help with all sorts of diagnosis\' and its good to see how the turbos are getting along..

PS - welcome!!!  :wave :wave

Thanks Redrummy!

I dont have a boost gauge yet, but its on the list of things to get (when i can afford) cause as you said, its nice to see what the turbos are doing.

I do like my BOV tho, as it has the recirculation sound on the 1st turbo (albeit relatively quiet) and a hoofing great whoosh when the second turbo unloads! So a nice bit of variety there! :D

Also i have noticed the power begins to feel like its flattening out at around 5000 revs, is this normal? I have only had the car 2days now, so i know i\'ll need to learn how it drives properly before i can ultimately compare where power bands come in etc!

The previous owner had a full rebuild at Jimmy\'s at the end of Jan, so it needs to go in for its check up before too long anyway.

Loving it to bits tho :King

Oedipus Rex

power should come on strong from the bottom of the rev range, drop slightly at around 4500 - 4800 revs while the second turbo comes on line. After 4800 revs you should be concentrating pretty hard.

croig

Hmm, havent noticed that second power band yet... but as i said i probably just need to learn to drive the car properly 1st :D
