I\'ve recently purchased a white 1989 Turbo II coupe which I bought from Mashamoto Auctions as a project, it has no/little compression in the rear rotor but has had quite a bit of work done to its body/suspension and a few aftermarket parts fitted (details later). The aim is a 400rwhp road car.

(- can highly recommended the above company to anyone looking to import/modify or just generally do car-related business, excellent customer service, always quick and helpful responses. Have been in touch with a guy there called Matthew for a few months, who arranged the delivery and sale of the car, and is currently organising a warantee and delivery for a rebuilt engine. check it out at http://www.mashamoto-auctions.co.uk or http://www.mashamoto.co.uk [new site, not complete?] )

Got it delivered to the workshop last weekend so this weekend started stripping out the interior to see what I had in terms of quality bodywork;

Description below [Planned action in sq. brackets]

Hood up

RUST AREAS [spotblast and treat appropriately]

Rusty Fender [spot blasted, welded/filler, painted]

BOOT TRAY INSPECTION

Found Clarion head unit behind carpet and insulation material tucked down in the corner of the shell! (next to the aerial retractor)

Rust holes in emergency wheel holder [weld and paint]

FLOORPAN INSPECTION [clean and weld appropriately]

Rusty floorpan by driver\'s side [weld and paint]

Broken boot lock and petrol cover release levers [Refit]

REMOVING SPOILER [paint flaking and bubbling, needs respray]

REMOVING BOOT LOCK [key does not work with lock, welding a plate, filling and spraying]

Ready for shotblasting, welding and finishing.

-Thats all I had time for last weekend. I\'m going back this weekend so may have an update, but I have to change the rear end on my \'93 Renault Clio 1.8 16v before I sell it so it probably won\'t be anything major.

thats a good sized project you have taken on

white - famous for shedding its paint for unknown reasons - which is why you have flaking paint

Yeah I heard about the infamous white paint.. Has anyone had new repair paint flaking away? If so any idea how to stop?

I\'m in the South West, In Gloucestershire. Although I live in Coventry during the week. Any SW guys on here?

grinder

no idea to be honest

it was something to do with the undercoat i think on the white cars - you might need to take it back to metal , prime and then paint to make it stick

Just a quick update;
Intercooler package came through the post today in one of the BIGGEST boxes I have ever seen, I thought they\'d sent me a corpse at first.

A bit smaller than I expected but probably easier to install, as it looks like a near spot on fit for the intake on the front bumper. Might spend quite a bit of time chopping up piping though..

Does anyone know any good pictures/threads showing the routing of \'cooler piping?

antnicuk

thats is some serious amount of pipe work,   anything is better than the stock cooler,  that should be fine with the stock engine turbo, if you are going bigger turbo and high boost you may want to get bigger later on.  What diameter is the pipe work?,
400 BHP - 650 KG\'s = 616 BHP Per Ton of Rotary Power

That\'s the way to do it! :Thumbsup!

BenLewisMav

2.5\' pipework, I\'m planning on running a T4 on low boost for daily driving (prob about 300hp), then for track/drag days the aim is 400rwhp (so about 430bhp ish) by knocking up the boost, using water injection and a suitable map.

I found one on ebay with the same specs as mine and they say its good up to 400hp and 30psi, Obviously I\'d like to have a margin for error but I\'m hoping the water injection will make up for what the intercooler lacks.

Otherwise, it\'s going to be up on ebay and I\'ll get a larger suitable replacement... Anyone want a brand new intercooler ideal for low lag street driving? :D

sadgoth

Well I\'m after that sort of power in my TII (setup - 1/2 bridge, GT4088, 1000cc injectors, Microtech....etc) and the Evo VI IC I had was deemed too small! not sure how that compares?

You won\'t need 30psi...Your engine won\'t wantit either!

2.5 inch pipe work that long will struggle to deliver 400 rwhp,   which is 490 FLWHP, in fact a turbo II engine will struggle to deliver that.

I use 3 inch inlet as do most bigger power, some even go to 4 inch.

Ant, why is the 13bT going to struggle to hit 400 atw if all the porting and ancillaries are right? Where is the weak link?

you would need big porting, big exhaust, big turbo plus all the rest of the ancilleries.  people always think that getting 400 rwhp is easy, it isnt and they dont last that long when you do get it.  Its a little easier with an RE or REW but you are already behind with the TII block due to the smaller ports and limited porting ability.   Your normal set up will struggle.  I have had 3 turbo 2\'s and all have been modified and i\'m still only up to 380 rwhp.   There are still only a handfull RX7\'s with over 400 rwhp in the UK.
