The ebay ad pics

A bit more rust than i\'d hoped for (poor photographer warning)

Mahooosive side repeaters!

Vdub scirocco body kit...

A wave of the magic stick and....

Wheel recycled from the fto and new gearknob because the leather had gone all mushy on the originals :x

Stereo located in the glovebox to keep the original push button radio and auto revverse cassette!

Hideous coloured interior pretty much original 8)

Sleepy eye lights 8)

Scirocco arches with exposed screws for that jdm old skool look

This photo is a bit clearer for the arches....the more sharp eyed of you will notice the bumpers have been sunk back into the body too.

The business end....Engine....(not much to see really apart from my home made induction pipe)

And a box of bits of emissions and other assorted crap that have been removed!  :D

[/quote]

Still some more bits and bobs to do like some more cosmetics on the arch extensions and maybe some new front seats because of a nasty tear but that\'s pretty much it

I didn\'t expect that much work but I\'ve enjoyed doing it and it\'s been a great learning curve so far and as taught me a few things too

And i\'m happy to say that it\'s not half as slow as I thought it was too....i got a 7.68 on a g-tech pro the other day!

Looks tidy man. You put a lot of work in and boy does it look mint!  Loose the sleepy eyes though Good work:Thumbsup!

mpk490p

very nice its hard enough to restore a 85 like mine but a nice s1 rare as rocking,
so here come the questions, the sleepy eyes (where did you get them from?) i was thinking of making my own
did you put the electric fan on? looking at them at the mo, can you recormend one? everyone says Kenlowe but there are some great deals from the states on ebay at half the price pulling the same air

thank
Mark

PS its good to know there\'s a good welder up the road
make sure you get yorself joined up to the club and get to santa pod RS4 this year

mr.bishi

Thanks guys.....the sleepy eye kit (optional to use robbie, but cool as you like:Thumbs-up ) i got from ebay, but it\'s really just a three way swith (on/off/push to make) switch interupting the supply to the dash switch,it was a tenner from the bay (any kit will do) and you get a switch, loom and fuse holder so it\'s not bad value really.
The fan was 2nd hand from an Alfa Romeo (i can\'t remember the model....an ebay jobbie),the shroud covers the oil cooler too.The temp switch i borrowed from work and kicks in at 85 degrees and drops out at 80 iirc. It never comes on normal driving so it seems to be staying pretty cool......i\'ll keep my eye on it when the weather warms, but i\'m positive it\'ll be ok,it seems to shift more air than the old spitfire propeller when it\'s on.

I\'ve got some denso plugs and some new leads coming for it from the states and a couple of new coils to fit,the carbs second chokes are now mechanically operated with a modified accelerator pump and the auto choke off,hot start servo, and emissions rubbish is all in the bin....I\'m using it as my everyday motor at the moment as my fto turbo is waiting for me to get off my ass and get it mot\'d,and it\'s been very reliable so far:bandit

Ooo,while i remember,is there an outlet for new rear lights anywhere (preferably without the reflectors)? Mine are kind of faded and cracked around the screws.....they make the car look tatty.I was thinking of giving them a light smoke temporarily.

Cycaduk

Hi,
I have just found my car has the dreaded tin worm. So far it only appears to be affecting the stengthening bit where the rear suspension upper link and optional child restraints attach under the wheel arches. (and the wheel arch inner bit I can see right throughh the car between the wheels now!!
Last one of these I had, I bashed out some steel to make an approximate copy and welded it in, but I was wondering if there is a source for these odd panels?

mr.bishi

This bit you mean?

I just made my own bits.

Cycaduk

Hi,
yes thats excactly it. And its guaranteed to rust just there, the little lip catches dirt and moisture and they can never paint effectively between the two plates.
I was going to use 1mm thick steel for the repair does that sound OK?

shaunwil

Wow, looking great :D

Are you running the stock nikki with that cool filter setup ??

It\'s a slightly modified Nikki.....i.e Emissions removed and the second choke now mechanically operated with an uprated accelerator pump. The only problem with it is the transision between 1st and 2nd chokes isn\'t always smooth so i may have to switch back to vacuum :(

I\'m sure 1mm will be fine.
