Hi all,

Just wondering if there are any ex-scooby owners in here and do they have any opinions / tips / stories when switching from a scooby to a rex...

... in particular tho, I have a 330bhp scooby (classic) and its pretty quick indeed, but I luv rex\'s and wouldnt mind switching over, i just wondered what kind of power rex would I need for it to be quicker than my scooby and feel quicker too?

Thanks ya\'ll!

I\'ve never know how modifyed the scoobies are I\'ve played with but some appear to be far from stock, in the dry my fairly stock rx7 eats them, in the wet I don\'t stand a chance.

id go for one with a single turbo conversion to feel the G\'s

Im not saying that a twin turbo RX7 is slower but the torque curve is smooth.

Ive gone from a 380bhp Sierra Cosworth to a FD RX7 and i really miss the kick of the bigger single and the Gs i felt at 32PSI of boost.

Most rex\'s wont be running that boost because they just don\'t need to.

Also a rex will be no were near as forgiving as your 4 wheel drive scooby. Rear wheel drive needs to be treated with care.

I had an Impreza Turbo and an STi 5 before my first fairly standard 7 and cudnt believe the power of it.. Especially when the second turbo kicked in..

Have never looked back.. And never will.... Better looking car and better everything really..

All cars have quirks.. The Rotaries have the tip wear but the Subarus have the bottom end problem!!

Same as any car really service it and look after it and you\'ll be grand...

fastest i ever ran in mine was a 13.1 at santa pod and mine was only just 380bhp

defending the cossies they are not designed for the power. The rex has much more going for it. The much wider rear tires are a plus. A 4wd cosworth running the same power as mine would get in the mid 12s easy.

But i broke my cossie for parts and opted for the rex !

Used to have an Impreza Terzo with full PPP package, personally thought it was rubbish compared to the rex, handling on the rex is far superior IMO (suits my style of driving better though) and the power delivery is much better,

All round I would never go back to a scoob unless I had too.

my rex is running prob around about 300 bhp maybe slightly less and theres a guy who lives near me who has a older style scooby apparantly running 300bhp, i dont know the guy but thats wot i have been told by a few people.  I was behind him one day and he booted it up the road, i found it hard to keep up up until about 60-70 then after that no contest :D

Thing is i dont know if his car really is 300 bhp theres alot of b*llsh*tters about as we all know

B*llsh*tters driving Scoobies ?

I have had a number of scoob\'s Self modded 2.23litre gt34/40 running 400+ horses, an STI RA and a WRX all running over 350bhp. I went over to rx7\'s about 2 or so years ago and had a very very hard start. But i stuck with it. Now it would be hard for me to go back. Don\'t get me wrong i love the scoob\'s but it more the noise that makes me think i should. A well tuned FD Or FC lets face it a well tuned rotary just pulls so smooth and so fast ...

They are just awsome.

I use to have a standard 99 spec UK Impreza but worked for the local Subaru dealer so drove all the standard and PPP packed scoobs.

We also had a 300 brake one before everyone started to play with them, this had been played with by Prodrive. Back then this was a real rarety but still couldn\'t compare to how the rex made me feel when I got in one.

It\'s no quicker but the fun of RWD and the whole experiance was far better, oh yeh plus this is mine.:god

Spent last saturday with some cossies on the rollers. Mine made an easy 330, should be more though ! The cossies where all over the show for grip because the power was slapped on at the end.

Awesome power out of a couple and there was a white one with 520bhp without nos and 616bhp with. They had 4 guys sat in the boot and 3 on the back seats.

My mate is really into cossies but for bigger turbos the rex is amazing, smooth, powerful and boost comes in early. My mates cossie felt like you could make a cup of tea waiting for boost.

was thinking of buying a scoob a while back, but after going out in one i was left very dissapointed. decided on a rex (never even been in one before) and bought the car i have now. in all honesty i miss my 323 gtr for in the back shove that the rex doesnt give as much off, its not untill you look at the speedo on the rex that you realise how quick it is. the power delivery is incredibly smooth, even with 460hp and a t78. devistatingly quick in the dry, forget it in the wet.:Thumbs-up
