As above,

I have got mine off as i want it powder coated but i am reluctant to strip all the mechanism off. Can it be powder coated without removing will the plastic bits with stand the heat of powder coating. If not anyone with any tips for stripping it down?.  Also i have taken the butterflies out of the plenium (UIM) as for the same reason the plastic parts after sliding the rod out i am left with what looks like a rubber seal in the hole which does not seem to want to come out. Are they replaceable if i cut it out is there somewhere that i can buy a replacement?

Cheers Garith.

Any of the advertisers at the top of the page should be able to help you with the gasket...only £10

It\'s a good idea to strip the Plenum down before getting it done...its quite easy just take pics of everything you remove and in the order you remove them...then put it back together the opposite way :)

Hi rixio,

Cheers Mate, The plenium i have all ready stripped apart from the black rubber seal type thing, Its the throttle body i am worried about as it has alot of springs and idle screws attached.

Cheers Garith.

If you have removed the butterflies why do you want to put this stuff back on the UIM, just tap the hole and screw a bolt into it.

I bought a spare throttle body to powder coat and rebuild. Much easier way of doing it. I did have a major problem though and I should have checked it before I stripped and powder coated it. The butterflies leaked on the throttle and the car wouldn\'t idle.

Its also hard to get somebody to actually do the work. It cost me 50quid to get coated because there is alot of masking that needs to be done to cover all the main bits.

The workshop manual is alot of help but having a spare one meant I could compare the two.

Would\'nt it be easyer to get it painted? I know its not as Hard wearing but yiu would\'nt need to remove the Butterflys and it is also air dry so there is little if no heat involved.

I did think about doing my current one, but the rest is powder coated !
