hi,
I`m hoping to do some track days with my rex in the summer, I have never been to one of these before so not 100% sure what I need?
I`m assuming a 2nd set of alloys with track tyres will be needed, but what else?

thanks,
Baz.

Grizzly

Decent Pads and Disks, Decent Tyres (do some home work into the best ones for Track days becouse if you get the wrong ones they tend to spoil the Fun)

I would get an Alloy rad just to keep things a bit cooler and a good service/Set up

thanks Grizzly.

any more tips from any1?

Oh, and don\'t forget the lid ;)

Some people will buy cheap one\'s but personally in the event of the absolute worst happening you\'d want a decent lid!!!

Oh, and instruction ;)

If you fancy Oulton Park then I\'m in :D.

Seriously though all the above and make sure you have fresh oil, good brake fluid and that everything is in top condition.

Plus make sure you know where all your towing eyes are and they are clearly visible to the marshals or they won\'t let you out on track.

If I book a day do you fancy being a passenger for the day? Either 10 or 15 quid plus a helmet (or hire one). Once you do one you won\'t look back.

Don\'t shy away from track days when it\'s damper.  Best fun on track I\'ve had was in torrential rain at Brands.  Spring/Autome/Winter air temps are good for the car :)

Your a scarey man :p Oulton Park in the wet is very scarey. Turned the boost down to 0.5bar and still struggled for decent grip :3gears-rh

Just to add a constructive comment :Talking1

I personally wouldn\'t go over board on changing things for your first track day.  I would use your normal tyres - as long as there not either nearly finished or brand new you should be fine.

Stock brakes would probably give you plenty of brake fade, but thats not a massive problem for a first go on track - it just means brake earlier :eek and concentrate on getting good lines through the corners.  If you destroy \'em you can get some better pads/fluid etc for next time.

Not sure about cooling, but from what I understand it could be a weak point so worth looking into (its what puts me off taking my Rex to the track yet).

And just make sure everything else is in good condition, i.e. recent service or at least fairly full and fresh fluids.. oh and some disc/pad left too!

:(  good point i suppose.  i really should start a thread and ask if i can tag along with someone.
